Coach Fazackerley leaves Man City

Fazackerley joined Manchester City when Kevin Keegan was manager

Manchester City first-team coach Derek Fazackerley has left the club following the arrival of new manager Mark Hughes.

Fazackerley, 56, joined City in 2001 and worked under managers Kevin Keegan, Stuart Pearce and Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Eddie Niedzwiecki became first-team coach soon after Hughes' appointment as the new manager brought his coaching staff along with him from Blackburn.

Fazackerley was linked with Newcastle when Kevin Keegan began his second spell at St James' Park in January.

Formerly a Blackburn player, Fazackerley has worked with Keegan at Newcastle before, along with their time spent together at City and with the England national team.

The Newcastle boss has in the past praised Fazackerley for his organisational skills and an ability to guide players defensively.

Was apparently very important when he was here last time so it would be good to see him back.

In those glorious times of KK's first managerial spell, Faz always took the training at Maiden Castle and KK and TM joined in with the frenetic 5 a sides. Happy times watching the lads train then with hundreds watching most days.

Only a couple of us watching Hartlepool there yesterday though!
