Happy Face 29
NPR have had a vote and took 50,000 odd votes. Clearly some fan sites have had an impact on the final result, but these things are always canny to find anything you might have missed (I didn't even know Girl Talk had a 2008 album ) http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2008/06/...cds_of_the.html Thoughts? Omissions? I know Hot Chip are English, but only 500 votes? Deserve more. No Camille either? I thought her album was quality. Almost as good as her last. Loved Black Mountain and Ratatat too
Happy Face 29
panic at the discos new album was utter shite, totally lost the little bit of uniqueness they had from the first album (which was great) awful list that, I'd have had mgmt higher than most of that top10 and yeah hotchip should be higher should see vampire weekend and mgmt this weekend, down to dublin on sunday for oxegen Rage against the machine! Panic at the Disco fans rigged the vote. If a fan site hadn't linked to the vote they'd have been top 20 at best.
David Kelly 1297
Portishead ridiculously low being that it's far and away the best thing that's came out this year. I'm enjoying The Hold Steady, My Morning Jacket & Spiritualized albums quite a bit at the moment too. And the Hilotrons album is pretty good. Overall though I think it's been a fairly poor year for music so far. Other than Portishead most artists that I was anticipating releases from have failed to match expectations and there hasn't been much new stuff that has excelled. There was far better stuff in the last three years.

IrishMag 0
You won't see much of Oxegen in Dublin Do you know anyone looking for a camping ticket? well ya know what i mean makes more sense to most people than saying "naas", nope i swore in 2006 i'd never be back after going every year since witnness started but..rage are playing heading out for a drink in bray with my cousins saturday, and only going for sunday@oxegen and were staying in jurys@christchurch that night Sounds like the right idea, I'm the same, swore I'd never go back after 2006. Bought an early camping ticket this year, don't even know why. Now I'm trying to get rid of mine because I've just bought a car and also can't afford the 3 days off work. That and the weather is too dodgy.
W.L 0
Reading that reminded me how much utter bollocks passes for music these days.
Happy Face 29
The Girl Talk album I hadn't heard of in post #1 is still the best of the year by miles. Jim Noir is a distant second.
