Dyer

We really need to get this shithouse off the books, he's bleeding us dry. The wages he's getting would cover the wages of two other decent players. If it was down to me i would accept a million for him just to get rid but i can't help thinking he'll find himself in the same boat as Bellamy, no takers who he deems worthy enough to play for.

Dyer's England chance dashed

By Rob Stewart

Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer has suffered a fresh injury setback that has removed his already slim chance of being recalled to the England squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

His team-mate, Michael Owen, has also been at the centre of an injury scare.

Dyer has been out of action due to a hamstring problem and was expected to make his comeback today at Portsmouth, until a recurrence of a problem that has blighted his time at St James' Park over the last six years and prompted manager Graeme Souness to send him to Germany to try to find a cure.

Newcastle are bracing themselves for Dyer to be ruled out for up to another month after the latest setback. He missed training yesterday, and Newcastle striker Owen was also hurt during a practice match.

The England striker, no stranger to injury himself, hobbled out of training and had an ice pack strapped to his muscles. Owen is seen as "50-50" to play against Portsmouth but should be fit for the matches against Austria and Poland.

If Owen gets injured against Austria or Poland I will be fuming.

Dyer needs to get himself sorted out, fast. No more nights out, Souness needs to get him on tag or something so that he knows where he is and what he is doing at all times. Alcohol will slow down his body from recovering from injuries and if he is going out all the time, it is going to be no good for us.

Bollocks to what Bramble says, he would stick up for his mate Kieron. He will be out most nights now he is injured.

I'm still stunned we offered Dyer a new deal. Yes we might lose him on a free, but surely that's better than shelling out a fortune for another four years.

If the reports of £80k are true (they sound a little high for me) then that's a commitment of £16m over the duration of the contract. Suddenly that Bosman doesn't seem so bad, does it?

They are true, it was confirmed in the press at the time and the club confirmed the new contract.

He's a smug little bastard who we need to get off the books, especially when he's earning them sort of wages.

*timewarps back 15 years*

"YOU WOULDN'T LET IT LIE!!"

*returns to the present*

:D

I agree with luckypierre though, you can't blame Souness entirely for this one.

Every manager since Gullit has fallen for this little prick's ability to pass himself off as a "world class player"TM.

Funny how he always manages to pull out the stops round contract time :)

And yes, Shepherd decides the terms of contracts doesn't he?

Am I imagining it, or did Souness say he was planning to build his team around Dyer?

What a laugh, showing his hypocricy and idiocy in one sentence.

Did you, like me, notice that Dyer went on the sick as soon as his new idiotically-lucrative contract was signed ?
