ewerk 31193
A loan deal for Barton mightn't be the worst idea. Should he play well and keep his nose clean then we could be getting back a much better player than the one we saw last season. However, should he turn out to be shite it means that we our option to sack him is gone.

Not saying Liverpool have made an illegal approach for Keane but the transfer window being open doesn't have anything to do with that, does it? ewerk 31193
I'd say their pursuit of Barry is much more likely to be seen as tapping up, getting Gerrard to turn his head while on England duty and all that.

Happens all the time though I reckon. Getting round illegal approaches by getting fellow players to ask if they fancy a move.

You can`t say it is tapping-up is there is no clear definition of what that is. It the transfer window is open then it´s fair game.

And as alex has already said, it makes no difference whether the transfer window is open or not. Edited July 2, 2008 by ewerk

According to how the FA class it, it shouldn't matter whether it's open or not, still need to approach the club first. Although with agents these days it might actually be hard to find transfer that really is "clean".
Happy Face 29
I wish clubs would show less restraint when it comes to tapping up some of our players Someone Youtube the goal Smith scored against Sampdoria to show them what they're missing out on.
