Newcastle hurt by Russian inflation

Newcastle are having to change their transfer targets.

They had a look and enquired about Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko, but those options are now double the price that Newcastle were quoted before the tournament. There are more teams interested in these players, but many will be dissuaded by their high fees and salaries, so Newcastle will have to be patient and hope that they don’t sign for any one of the high profile clubs that have approached them in the last couple of weeks.

Newcastle are looking for players in the 20-24 years age bracket as they have an ageing squad. They have been offered Swiss players (Barnetta, Frei, Behrami) and Russians (Zyrianov, Zhirkov) but some of them are either too old, or have excessive salary demands.

A suggestion - considering he is for sale as we mention in another entry- how about Pablo Aimar?

We should have been in for these players BRFORE the euro`s, anyone with half a brain knows a few half decent performances will result in outrageous transfer/wage demands

I will be surprised if we sign anyone with a proven name let alone hang onto Owen & Oba

Does anyone have a clue WTF is going on???

Has Ashley spunked the transfer budget on the stockmarket & in the casino???

We could do a lot worse than signing Barnetta or Behrami. Not sure about Frei though.

Agreed, I like Behrami a lot he looked good in the few games I watched him in the Euros and the few times I've seen him for Lazio.

It's hilarious how much stick the previous chairman got for talking us up in the papers at every opportunity, spunking our money on complete bags of shite, paying unproven youngsters ridiculous amounts, borrowing and borrowing to deliver no success, spending nothing on the academy or scouting, not communicating with fans and charging ridiculous amounts for friendlies and cup games.

Now the new man has taken positive steps in EVERY one of these areas, the majority are still pissing in their pants because we haven't spent as much as Spurs with 2 months to go until the season starts.

As far as I can tell Leazes is the only one that has any right to be complaining, and to his credit he seems to be keeping his opinion to himself until the transfer window has panned itself out.

Why in the name of fuck would anyone agree a transfer for £xm before the Euros, when he could have 2 good games in the Euros and his price go up tenfold?

Clubs do NOT sell before major tournaments. Fact.

Perhaps, but I kinda agree with the clubs new policy. Are we not sick of going for the glam players? (Boumsong? Glam? <_< ), ok, not all Glam but big signings? We get them here by offering OTT packages and then cant shift them when they turn out to be shit? Im happy to sign anyone Ive not heard of so long as KK can get them to play and do well.
