Holden McGroin 6785
It is worrying but then didn't we nearly get Modric for £15-20m ? If the right young players are available then i think we'll be in for them.
Fop 1
It doesnt make good reading when most of the links are with us letting players go and we've yet to see any solid evidence of anyone coming in. Maybe we will and we'll all be happy (happier anyway), but at the moment its a bit depressing. Whats puzzling me is I dont think KK would have came if he was told there would be no money, or he had to sell to make his own money. At the moment it's impossible to say what is correct and what is baseless witter to fill column inches. But you're right that if it is remotely true then Keegan would probably have every right to say what he has got is nothing like what was sold to him. Tom 14013
No genuine quotes. Oh by the way a 'martins source' and a 'toon insider' have both told me that Ashley is willing to spend £100m and everybody is perfectly happy. If I recall correctly Keegan said he was willing to spend £25m on one player not so long ago & when you add that to the fact we were an inch away from Modric it becomes clear we are going to spend. This story seems to be quite recycled and I think the £13m release clause was taken out anyway, as was Owens. Basically the journalists don't haunt the corridors of St.James any more so they have to make stuff up...

Who knows what the truth is, but this article does seem to have a lot of details reg Oba's contract. Agent maybe??
Barney 0
Wasn't there talk of bumping Oba's wages up with a new contract that would remove the release clause? As you say, it might just be an agent feeding things to the press to get those wages higher.
Hadrian 0
middle of last season oba started pushing for a new contract of 80k pw . details leaked in the press at the same time we got all the stories of how oba loves the toon and wants tobe a geordie legend . there is no way in hell oba's getting the 80k pw now , so his agents just using the arsenal card again and making it sound like we will lose him cheap unless we get a new contract sorted and remove the buyout clause . then again , wouldnt put it past keegan to be ruthless and get rid , but not at the same price we brought him in at , doesnt make sense , he's premiership proven now .
