I sold my car last year and before it went I put my private plate onto retention. I've now lost the retention documents and haven't a clue how or who to ask about replacing them? Anyone clued up?

You're displaying a Scotland flag which automatically excludes you from anything relating to class, too.

I got one off my folks a few years back for my birthday, I snapped it over my mothers head for buying me such a heinous present.

The DVLA make an absolute fortune, £100 to type into a computer that your hanging on to the number plate for a year!

Hardlys ;) I'm not remotely bothered how new my car is. It'd be pretty difficult to hide the age of my car, as anybody who knows anything about cars would see my car and realise that they stopped making them in 2004, and mine is the 2004 model - so a private plate couldn't hide it's age at all, if anything, people could look and think it might be on older car.

Edit: Prick-fuck.

I think they are ok if you are driving something fairly hellish such as a BMW or a big old land rover.

Maybe if the car has some class.

Saying that I doub't i'll ever drive a car with any class what so ever unless it's an old car anyway.

All number plates are private... all are paid for when you buy a car.

I disagree with you totally Tom. When I see a car with a 'private plate' on it, I think tacky, not class no matter what spec the car is.

You might as well spend the extra money on a better car tbh

Well not if it says something daft obviously, like i don't know T0M 1OL

They look quite classy if it's just a letters and a numbers, nice and subtle!

Alas....
