Guest Stevie
Germany for the win in the final? Spain will beat Germany. Course they will. Germany are shite. Spain can only beat themselves now, but this old man is an idiot if he doesn't start Fabregas.

Park Life 71
Germany for the win in the final? Spain will beat Germany. Just like Germany was going to be beat by Hungary in 54, or the Dutch in 74, or England in 96 ? We'll see how good the German CD's are against Spain. Isegrim 9741
Spain are of course the big favourites as they have been the most consistent team at the tournament so far. It will all depend if we are able to up our game again. A performance like against Portugal is needed. The pace of Torres could be a problem, hopefully Mertesacker rediscovers his normal form. Another performance like against Turkey and it will be an easy contest.

Russia's midfield let them down more than their defence, something that Germany won't have the same problem with.

ewerk 30406
What an excellent tournament and good to see that the winners come from the 1st/2nd strongest league in Europe, perhaps this indicates that the influx of foreign players has affected England the most and perhaps it is England's problem rather than Sepp Blatter's. The Fish 10817
is it proof that their league's the strongest? or more that their managers weren't idiots from day one? Maybe that the tactics employed by the national coach got he best out of what was available, rather than picking players based on who has the biggest ego. Certaily don't think the Bundesliga is the second best league in Europe and I'd have to say I don't think the Spanish league is as good as it's made out to be. Isn't England even worse than Germany? (although Germany excel at getting further than they should in tournaments) And isn't Spain one of the leagues with higher numbers of local players? Isegrim 9741
Deserved win for Spain. They were the far better team and the most consistent team of the tournament anyway. One (+ a half) good game in a tournament are not good enough, so reaching the final means that we overachieved anyway. A bit disappointing that we couldn't build on the good game against Portugal. I can't understand why we let Turkey and Spain play their football. But going into the tournament with far too many players not being in form always meant that it would be difficult. The axis of Mertesacker - Ballack - Gomez was meant to have to carry other players, but instead they all grossly underperformed themselves. Germany have about 14-15 good player, who can play decent football (like against Portugal), but the depth of squad wasn't good enough to provide cover.
