ohhh_yeah 2991
Toon in fresh talks over signing Turkish star NEWCASTLE United have held talks with Galatasary over their highly-rated Turkish international midfielder Arda Turan. It is believed preliminary discussions with the Turkish side's president Adnan Polat took place at the end of last season. However, United were informed Galastasary would not accept less than £13m for the 21-year-old. Newcastle are understood to value Turan at around £8.5m. However, with the European Championships due to start on Saturday, and Turan's stock likely to rise even higher if he was to have a successful tournament, Newcastle officials have been back in touch. They had hoped to get an outline agreement on a deal ahead of this weekend's kick-off in Austria and Switzerland, but while sources in Turkey claim the latest talks were more positive than the first, a compromise is still some way off. Newcastle are refusing to be held to ransom but their desire to make Turan the club's first signing of the current transfer window is beginning to show. Guest alex
Dawson's no better than Taylor. Been linked with him a few times now. We were even linked with him before he went to Spurs.
Isegrim 9896
Dawson's no better than Taylor. Been linked with him a few times now. We were even linked with him before he went to Spurs. A lot of uncreative rehashing of old stories at the moment. Looks like the press is as much or even more clueless about transfers than the fans. I think just like with the Emre deal we will be caught by surprise when the first deal comes off.

TheMoog 0
Looks like Nobby's been released by Wist Am too, that was worth him moving down there then wasn't it - still, we got £2m so I'm sure he got a nice sign on fee at the time.

khay 10
Or plan Z? A local TV station in Valencia has carried an interview with United defender José Enrique, who confirmed that he was enjoying life on Tyneside, but kept his options open when asked about a possible return to Spain. The same player was then mentioned in the Spanish press in connection with a move to his hometown club Valencia - who reputedly value the 22 year-old at the £7m we paid Villarreal last summer for him. Rather than a cash deal, a number of part-exchange options were mooted, including midfield pair Manuel Fernandes (recently loaned to Everton) and David Albelda. Also linked is Valencia's Serbian striker Nikola Žigić, the 27 year-old who is fractionally taller than Peter Crouch. From .com I would take Fernandes, and I've not seen Zigic play, but i think he had an all right season in La Liga before Valencia signed him. acrossthepond 878
Here's some gossip: Meanwhile, Ajax forward Albert Luque has been told he can look for another club this summer. The 30-year-old is one of the highest earners at the Amsterdam giants but found first-team opportunities hard to come by last season. Luque signed a three-year contract last August but did not make the best start to his Ajax career. He was involved in an altercation with team-mate Luis Suarez during a match in November for which he was substituted and later fined. The club's technical director Danny Blind told Voetbal International magazine: 'He can still be of use to Ajax but I have told him honestly that we are looking for reinforcements for our attack.'
