Well it's not racism, but it is one of the few forms of PC "acceptable prejudice" (make a joke about Yanks = OK Make a similar joke about Germans = THE END OF THE WORLD™ ). Although in fairness the general population of the USA would be better off for the odd slap to the face.

 

If China and the USA do exactly the same thing, China's act is generally quietly ignored, where as the USA is blamed for the act and anything that can possibly be tagged on to it.

As for the extreme lack of history and heritage... that is a shame. The English should have colonized us a lot earlier. How long does a country have to be in existence before we can have enough history and heritage to be patriotic?

Lots of US culture is fantastic imo. Their cinema and literature in the 20th Century has definitely made my life more enjoyable. I don't think they can be taken to task too much for not contributing to painting and sculpture in the Renaissance period

During the WC two years ago, I was in England and thought it was great how there were so many people driving around with the St. George's Cross on their cars, wearing the shirt, and my favorite were these kids I saw in Chichester wearing the flag and faces painted. Was that being over-patriotic? I would prefer my players to have some pride in their country and their shirt when they play... that is something I want in a Newcastle player as well!

In fairness what yanks most often need is just a volume control. Although it can sometimes be a bit difficult to tell the difference between US sports fans and say US Marines.
