trophyshy 7099
I am just completing an electronic music production course and for the final project have to remix Lilly Allen's Smile (no, regrettably that doesn't mean clip her in the pyat). Thing is I have nay inspiring idea as to what style to do the remix in - it's such a slow wishy wash affair. I can fuck up the tempo a bit, and of course the melody and harmonies, basically I am free to do what I want as long as it is 'commercially acceptable'. As its a little bit ska-y I thought about doing a dub remix, but its still not getting my creative juices flowing. I have run through a lot of ideas but still feeling somewhat uninspired. As there's seemingly a few musical sorts on here I wondered if any of you might be kind enough to offer some inspiration. Cheers fellas.
Brock Manson 0
Full on house remix. Crank the bass up. Synthesizer. As little sampling of the song as possible because it's shit.
Guest Patrokles
Make it funereal and dirge-like, like a Coil cover.

Guest alex
On a slightly serious note, drum and bass would work imo.

Even if you're rushing for skip I'd give it until just after 3 minutes to take it's shoes off. passed my course, now the real works starts. tinofbeans 91
ambient remix, with loads of lush pads..... with 303's going ten to the dozen as well just to confuse!!!! and all of her voice put through the glitcher vst so that she sounds like she has a tape loop problem... or maybe just drum and bass it up a bit.... Fop 1
In all honesty it's the Lilly Allen vocals that lets it down.
