Gaol is an archaic spelling in the UK. Not so in Australia.

Really???

I thought jail was an americanism.

English, it's not what it use to be! :icon_lol:

'Jail' is an Americanism really but 'gaol' is very rarely used now in the UK.

About the same time we started sending our criminals to Australia.

Ah the penal colony.

Sounds like somewhere where SO would live or at least text pictures of his cock.

It only took 200 years for us to realise that if you only give them a 3 year visa they have to go back
