Tooj 17
Hope it's Rijkaard, will spice things up a bit. Known to be quite moody with the press. He probably will spit at them.

Get Rudi Voller in the press then...could become quite entertaining
Scottish Mag 3
Hughes now at 9/2 second favourite. Was 14/1 earlier...

Guest alex
I think Hughes is a good manager but there's a world of difference between doing a decent job at somewhere like Blackburn and meeting the almost impossible expectations at Chelsea. I'll be surprised if he gets the job though.

Happy Face 29
I can't believe any manager currently in work would be interested. Pourquoi? Why leave a secure job to go to one where you're sacked after less than a season in charge, even if you're within a whisker of winning the treble. You don't think Fergie's sitting comfortably? If Hughes, for example, was the next manager after Ferguson at Old Trafford he wouldn't be in a particular secure position for a while at least, would he? Ferguson's position is unique, especially at a club of that or similar stature.

I dunno how secure it would have been if a few things had gone just a little better for Chelski (or indeed Newcastle). It's hard to say how secure he really is, as Man U and therefore Fergy have been in a position of strength since he almost was sacked (it's like comparing "good times" Blair to "hard times" Brown). I could never have seen him going after 2nd in the League and 2nd in the Champions league, but if they had gone 2-3 seasons without a trophy you never know. It's secure based on what has happened rather than what might have happened. Obviously security is a relative thing but it's just about the safest job in English Football alongside Dario Gradi at Crewe. Which is quite remarkable given the difference in the expectation levels at the two clubs.

There's a scale isn't there, where Fergie's is the safest job in football and whoever takes the Chelsea job will be the least safe. Hughes is somewhere in between, so you have to say he'd be taking a risk to leave Blackburn....as would anyone currently in a job.
Scottish Mag 3
Mark Hughes, Roberto Mancini and Felipe Scolari are among those on Chelsea's shortlist for the managerial job, BBC sports editor Mihir Bose has learned. But Guus Hiddink, Frank Rijkaard and Sven Goran-Eriksson are not major contenders to replace Avram Grant. Former Juventus coach Didier Deschamps has also said he is on the list. Mancini could be available for the post, after his agent claimed his client was no longer the coach of Italian champions Inter Milan.

If Mancini does come there will be one hell of a power struggle between the Dutch, Russian, Jewish and Italian mafias at the Bridge.
