Guest Stevie
Unfuckinbelievable. Having said that they behaved last time they were here. Valencia here three days later. Both live on Setanta. It is expected to be a busy summer for Kevin Keegan on Tyneside and Magpies fans will be able to get an early sight of any new arrivals as Setanta Sports brings you two glamour friendlies at St James’ Park. Scottish giants and Uefa Cup finalists Rangers are the visitors on August 6, while Primera Liga club Valencia provide the opposition on August 9. Guest alex
Mentioned it in the piss-up thread but what about the 9th for that to coincide with the Valencia match? Doubt I'll go otherwise like. Can't be arsed with friendlies in general.

Howay 12496
Why do we always play Celtic or Rangers in friendlies ffs, their fans nearly always act like wankers when they come here. Be good to see the Valencia game though players like Silva and Joaquin. Edited May 20, 2008 by Barton7

Winning the SPL 400 times means fuck all in world football. It's like the fucking championship man! I don't rate them or Celtic as massive clubs. Depends on what criteria you use in order to determine what a big club is. Does it involve winning trophies? Well yes for both. Or getting 50k plus crowds on a regular basis? Yes again. Constantly playing and doing half decently in European football? Yes again. Having a world wide support base? Certainly for Celtic. I'm not a fan at all of either club but they have a strong case to be considered a "big" club.

Historically our support in terms of average gates far outstrips both of them. I view both as no bigger or different (other than the sectarian bile) than a Man City. Where was their world wide support when they had to play home games at Hampden when Parkhead was being rebuilt? It certainly wasn't at Hampden Park when four fgures were there for league games, wankers lap this worldwide support thing up for Celtic, it's a fucking myth. Man Utd play in America there are 70000 in every stadium Celtic play there, there's 18,000 all true, and all ignored by a majority of wanks who spout shite like Celtic are massive. Not sure of the year, maybe 1994, but Celtic finished 4th under John Barnes/Liam Brady, got loads of sub 20,000 crowds. Only ones over 40,000 were against Rangers. Gloryseekers. They say they would compete in the premiership ? Would they bollocks, thousands of their fans would disappeare when they struggled and turn up somewhere in Chelsea or manu shirts ..... On the other side of the coin whenever I've been to Asia or around Europe, I've barely seen either tops, different with the toon though. Most of Celtic and Rangers fan clubs have five and six members though, it's pathetic, like Ottawa Loyal RSC. Both are paranoid about their perceived size, and both are right to presume the majority of people who have half a clue know both clubs are fuck all.
