LeazesMag 0
Shit, aging and never-fit. Any player brought in was and is an improvement. you obviously didn't watch too much of NUFC this season Nobby was playing right-back for us mostly before he went, because he was ineffective on the wing. Beye has been one of our best players this season.Parker. Well, going round in circles and passing backwards achieves what, exactly? Nicky Butt has been playing the role he played for us, and again, has been one of our better players. Dyer? Who averaged about 7 games a season for us? So what's your point here, fucktard? struggling to see yours, but thats nowt new. Great season without the fat bastard wasn't it. Yes. We've come a long way this season. Set up a structure at the club. We now have a dedicated team signing players, instead of the fat bastard taking control of it. We now have an extensive scouting network. We have a billionaire, putting money into the club, as opposed to milking money from it. We have a manager that the fans appreciate for once, and we've started to play good football. Of course under the old board, we'd be told that nobody can sack Keegan from a managers post, a few hours before he recieves his p45. But on the whole, I'd say things are looking up. Especially when you consider that these players that the new board have signed have been recruited without the lure or financing from European football, as the old board left the club whilst we were still in decline, and no longer challenging for this. I don't know whether your argument holds much water right now, tbh. We need to wait and see what happens this Summer before deciding either way. Yep, I think we should wait and see what those other 19 pesky clubs will do with their own particular "plans".
Guest BigThompers
Yes, I remember Hall appointing him. Football has changed a lot in 35 years. Why even compare? How does that or anything you say justify Shepherd spending big yet the club declining?

Told you this before, still haven't read it then ? Sir John was also responsible for floating the club, that led to losing him too, but that doesn't suit your "opinion" either You are aware of the concept that the major shareholders in companies are always involved in the major decisions I take it ? Guest BigThompers
Do you understand the concept of decline, Leazes? Do you understand that most declining clubs are the ones that fail to invest. Do you understand that the ones that invest heavily and still decline are usually because of some kind of incompetence from the very top?

Do you understand that the ones that invest heavily and still decline are usually because of some kind of incompetence from the very top? the expansion of the stadium, the building of the youth and training complex, would suggest otherwise. Do you think Arsenal have "declined" since they won the league and were unbeaten only a few short years ago ? Strange concept this, that you have. Its pretty odd how every clubs don't stay in the same position forever, perhaps you could explain this one for us ? When the Halls and Shepherd took over the club BTW, we were 20th in Division 2. Haven't you looked it up yet ?

Arsenal haven't spent as much as the other clubs above them, and have suffered from it. That is because spending+competence generally results in success. There are few examples of clubs spending big and declining, like us. Any of those that you can name, however, are down to incompetence at the highest level, including Shepherd. Do you think he expanded the stadium so that he could up the warehouse rental fee?
Guest BigThompers
FWIW Leazes, I'm sure Northern Rock were better early last year than they were 35 years ago, and I'm sure those in charge of them were ambitious too This must make them great too, like Shepherd. Do you think he expanded the stadium so that he could up the warehouse rental fee? its quite simple thompers lad. Managers = responsible for team. Directors = responsible for backing managers and the off the field running of the club. The major directors of the football club are all responsible for hiring and firing managers, nobody does it on their own, and nobody is stupid enough to leave millions of pounds of an investment totally in the hands of another shareholder. Fact is, Keegan was appointed by Fletcher, Shepherd and Hall Jnr. In fact, Fletcher was the person who was most influential in the club during that time, but as a board of 4 people, any of them could have been the figurehead, same as when Shepherd became the figurehead, the managers would all have still been appointed, backed, same decisions made, everything, Penny drop yet ? Gawd blimey thompers, I missed you on NO, I tried to get you back, you make me laugh because you're like a more pissed and abusive version of mick, so consequently vastly more entertaining. Guest BigThompers
Nobody stopped these managers from walking away like, if they were unhappy with this alleged "meddling" ? Yeah, because if you don't like the chairman, you're going to walk away and make it so that he doesn't even have to compensate you. Good logic!
