Scottish Mag 3
David Rozehnal has admitted that he would welcome a permanent switch to Serie A side Lazio. The Czech Republic international has been on loan at the Stadio Olimpico from Newcastle since January, after failing to hold down a regular first-team spot on Tyneside. However, he has enjoyed greater success in Italy and admits that he is enjoying his football once more. "In the last five games I have played from the start and it has given me the self-confidence I had when I was playing for Paris St Germain," Rozehnal told Sport. "Everything is looking to be returning to normal, I hope it will continue this way." The centre-half has recently been included in his country's training squad ahead of Euro 2008, but remains unsure what the future will hold for him after the summer tournament. He revealed that he would be willing to extend his stay at Lazio, but only if he can be guaranteed regular opportunities. "I have not played as much I have wanted to," he said. "Now it is up to Lazio to make a decision. "If I was playing then I would definitely come. It is important for me to play regularly. "I would not like to struggle here in a situation where I play one game and sit out the next three."

ewerk 31596
Defender departure Monday saw confirmation appear on the official Lazio website that they had reached agreement with Newcastle for the permanent transfer of David Rozehnal. The 27 year-old defender is currently appearing at Euro 2008 for the Czech Republic and has been on loan to the Serie A side since January of this year. It's understood that the loan agreement did contain provision for the move to be made permanent and Lazio have now exercised that option - some weeks after the player publicly stated his desire to remain in Rome. No fee has been announced for Rozehnal, who cost £2.9m when arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in June 2007. There's been no confirmation from Newcastle as yet. .com

ewerk 31596
Good to see that it appears we haven't simply accepted their first offer and have been prepared to wait to get our money back. Around £2.5m wasn't it?

luckyluke 2
Simply not suited to the premiership. done well at lazio by all accounts. I agree with what your saying, but the way you have phrased it absolves the player of any responsibility. I would say he has failed to adapt, rather than simply not be suited to the league. I think that any player that has the ability to be a sucess in Serie A and internationally can adapt to the Premiership if they work hard enough.
