Walliver 0
I've always beena bit wary of buying 'Best Of' albums because I know I have a couple that are clearly not the best an artist has produced but just the most popular singles. At the same time I know that some bands release all their good songs and their album tracks are generally a bit weak. Can anyone recommend any Best Ofs from bands that would give me all I want on one CD without the need for buying back catalogues to get all the actual best songs? In '31 Songs' Nick Hornby suggests Santana's has everything I could ever want from them on one CD. Is this true?

Tbf, I shouldn't need to preface every post I make with 'In my opinion.' Clearly, it's all just my opinion. That's why you never see any criticism, etc, littered with 'in my opinion'. Guest Patrokles
Back on topic, though, and in my opinion, it's quite hard to find best-ofs which offer everything you need. Even the best best-ofs will generally just whet the appetite. Look at how many greatest hits the Smiths put out!

Most criticism is actually of music. If you're criticising someone's personal taste though, I think it's only polite to not admonish them in the process. Keep it up though, your taste is clearly "the best". Edited May 12, 2008 by Happy Face

I honestly believe people should listen to what they like. My problem comes when people scoff at others as though they're something special when they can't back it up with their own tastes. I only dismissed Santana for the purpose of a joke (which got a laugh). I'll scoff at what I don't like, but I try not to scoff at anyone's personal taste, because I don't think of myself as too cool for school. I'm sure there's a plethora of stuff i like that others think is shit. As I'm sure there's a load of shite you like.
