Jimbo 175
Viduka out for three to six months Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has revealed that Mark Viduka's Achilles injury will keep him out of action for between three and six months. Viduka, who also suffered hamstring, calf and ankle injuries this season, came off during his side's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Monday. The Magpies boss said he would know in the next two weeks whether the Australian striker, who along with fellow strikers Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins was key to the club's recent good form, will be fit for the early period of next season. "Mark Viduka could be out for three to six months," Keegan revealed at his press conference on Thursday. "That’s a blow for us but we’ll see. "We’ll know more in two weeks and will inform you then. Mark’s done great for us so that’s a blow." The club had already indicated that this injury would ensure he would not play in Newcastle's final game of the seasona and his country's four World Cup qualifiers they play in June. ewerk 31190
He'll have to be replaced / get a back up for him in the summer for certain now, he's done well under Keegan and if we're going to continue with this formation then we've no one else to take his place. Ashton? If he could keep injury free then IMO he could do a good job.

ewerk 31190
The Ashton of 2 years ago would be the ideal replacement however, whether he can find / sustain that form and whether West Ham would sell may be unlikely imo.
Kid Dynamite 7165
Id take Ashton in a heartbeat! Considering Viduka looked so shit at the beginning of the season, you realise now just how good a player is. The ball sticks to his feet like glue

For the size of him he has some great skill.

Andrew 4855
Ashton is average at best. I agree, he comes up with occasional moments of quality but he is way to injury prone and we don't exactly have a good record with buying players and keeping them fit for long periods of time ashtons legs would probably fall off within a week of signing
Bombadil 0
We've got to replace him over the summer, we certainly don't want Smith starting another 30 games for us next season.

Happy Face 29
Not to worry, Ameobi is staying and Carrol/Zamblera are adequate cover.

Tom 14013
Id say £10m-12m but not £15m. Especially because of the wages he is going to be requesting.
Tom 14013
Is he still playing? Yeh and besides Torres and Gerrard he's scored more than any other Liverpool player. Including 2 more than Crouch

Stephen 0
Ashton is like a shadow of his former self these days, I don't rate him anymore. Crouch would be ideal, but for £15m I'd tell them where to shove it. £10m max.
sammynb 3506
We should be after Santa Cruz. Rovers don't have European football next season and we can offer a better wages than them so he's the type of target we should be after.
