Don't think you can look at it as one-dimensionally as you're trying to do so. Alex has a point too, the injury he got at Portsmouth last year was horrific (and according to a top sports surgeon, unprecedented in Football). How the fuck did Anelka regress at Man City? Duff has flopped since moving to St James' Park from Chelsea two years ago for £5million. His time in the north east has been blighted by injury and poor form and he has now told friends that he will move this summer after being informed he was not going to be a regular in Kevin Keegan's team next summer. Duff has already put his house up for sale and ideally wants to move back to the capital. Newcastle failed in a move for Luka Modric, who they saw as a natural replacement and have now turned their sights to Galtasaray's Arda Turan and Stuttgart's Mario Gomez. Both players have been watched in recent weeks, although Kevin Keegan will face fierce competition in attempting to sign either player. Turan, a natural left winger, is coveted by a host of clubs, including Barcelona, AC Milan and Valencia, whilst Gomez, who scored at the weekend, has attracted interest from some of Europe's top clubs. Keegan confirmed he will not stand in the way of player's like Duff, who see their future away from Newcastle. “You might find a player not happy here, and he'll probably be a player not in the side,” he said. “They might not enjoy being out of the team.
