luckyluke 2
Just got back. Good first half performance but we didnt show in the second. Too many players second half have nothing performances. Duff, Smith etc. Taylor and Butt both had canny games. Kudos to the bloke for putting a bit of Floyd on at half time Worry post match comments from KK though I thought Taylor had a great game. Geremi and his replacement Smith were predictably mediocre.
Snake 0
Anyone catch Keegan' post match interview? "I'm wondering what I can do next season to bridge that gap and the answer is nothing, I don't have enough money, so I'll carry on with what I've got, The owner thinks we can challenge the top 4, and he's wrong." This on Sky? In the BBC interview he makes the point but he's talking more about the strength of the top 4 rather than having a go at the chairman and owner. Beeb interview here around 1min 30sec : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/m...day/7384594.stm Yep, he made the spot on point about their bench. Alex, Lampard, Shevchenko, Cudicini, Joe Cole. Ashley Cole & Wright Phillips not even in the 16. Ridiculous

ewerk 31195
Kev calls for realismNewcastle chief admits gap is getting even bigger Kevin Keegan has warned Newcastle supporters to be realistic in their expectations for next season, having seen his side fall to Chelsea on Monday. A 2-0 success for title chasing Chelsea demonstrated the gap between the genuine contenders and also-rans, despite a plucky display from the home side. Keegan is expected to invest heavily in his squad in the summer but the St James' Park favourite admits he is no miracle worker - and that sides such as Chelsea are insurmountable at present. He said: "I was thinking, 'what have I got to do next year to get near them' - and the truth is there's nothing I can do at all. The fans have to know that," he told Sky Sports. "I haven't got enough money and I wouldn't be able to get the players anyway, so I will soldier on with what I've got and maybe add one or two, maybe three depending what's available. "I was looking around thinking, 'who can I bring on' and I'm seeing (Andrei) Shevchenko and (Frank) Lampard coming on and Joe Cole thinking about coming on. "Maybe the owner (Mike Ashley) thinks we can bridge that gap - but we can't." Asked who he thought would emerge as champions this season, Keegan spoke of his admiration for Chelsea coach Avram Grant, but tipped Manchester United for top spot. Grant respect He added: "I like Avram Grant very much and think this Chelsea side is exceptional. "In any other season they would have been worthy champions but I can't see Manchester United slipping up at Wigan - even on that pitch, which isn't very good. "I think we gave Chelsea a hell of a game in the first half today but their class shone through. "But they are both quality sides with great players, who will be worthy champions." Makes some fair points, don't think he's having a go and Ashley and Mort though.

Gemmill 45997
Steve Bennet is a terrible referee as well some of his decisions were pathetic, not booking Terry when he told Carvalho to fall back down to waste time when he was walking off was a discrace. Is that what Terry was doing like? Anyway, Bennett is a fucking arsehole. The farce where Chelsea's wall were refusing to go back the full 10 yards, I'm sitting there thinking "there's 5 or so Chelsea players there, you're the referee who is supposed to be in charge of the game, and they are TAKING THE PISS out of you and you're letting them." He had literally zero authority or respect from them, stood there telling them to move back and them just stood looking at him not moving an inch. Get your fucking card out, book one of them, and tell the rest of them that they're all getting one unless they step back 2 yards. If that doesn't shift them, then get the second yellow out and start shifting them off the pitch. Honestly, I would delight in putting these cocknose players in their place, and this prick actually has the opportunity to and is too weak to do it. Pathetic. If I was a referee it would be my word goes. Some of the shite they get is ridiculous and rather than save face and do something about it they put up with it. The rules say a wall must be ten yards away, if the players refuse to move back ten yards they are breaking said rules. Book the fuckers! No one would moan apart from the players themselves. Aye and he's a possible England captain too. Agreed they were still too close when the free kick was eventually retaken, after Malouda's stupid block on the first attempt, it seems that all they have to do is be persistant and eventually he'll give up and let them get on with it. Spineless tosser.

NJS 4411
Bennet was his usual corrupt self - how come the two late lunges by Drogbha and Carvalho weren't cards but Faye's and Enriques harmless fouls were? Because he knew booking those two so early would mean reds later - unless he bottled it as he did with Terry.

NJS 4411
I've just watched the BBC interview and its nothing to worry about (until the fat tramp and his mates get a hold of it). I think he's saying that even if Ashley let him spend the money on 4 or 5 Modrics it still wouldn't make us as strong as Chelsea and he's right. However I think if we do spend at that level this summer and then follow it up in the next two I think we could - and I think once Kev gets out of his post loss depression he'll probably think that as well. Beeb interview here around 1min 30sec : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/m...day/7384594.stm SKY and Talksport were running the interview I quoted. Nearly moved to tears by his honesty. And rest be assured he sees it far clearer than any of us (the gulf). There is no shame trying to finish 5th or 6th next season (you can see deep down he's hurt cause he knows he can't compete). Few months ago I started a thread on N.O. that reached 20 odd pages where I was basically arguing that we need to spend £100m to compete and rightfully it attracted a fair bit of banter. I know these kinds of figures scare people and to some justifiably they might seem like big numbers, but when KK talks about not being able to get enough money in the summer I'm guessing these are the kinds of figures he has in his head. Stay as you are KK you're the best.

To be fair Chelsea have probably spent over £300 million assembling that squad, and Man United are probably roughly the same once you total up you Ferdinands, Rooneys Tevez etc. Even Arsenal struggle to match them and they have an almost revolutionary youth policy backud up by some quite serious spending. He's right it is just a dream but it can still be done if the club is run right and one of them slip up like Everton did to Liverpool. When your comparing Barton to Ballack, Viduka to Drogba, Terry to Faye there is a big difference that isn't going to go away any time soon.
