I thought Oba had already said he wasn't interested in a move to Arsenal? And why would we accept £15m for him when (1) he's just signed a new contract and (2) we don't need the cash.

mort is doing my head in , he must be the slowest premier league chairman going .

you'd think the fact owen can buy out his contract for 1.5 mill would mean mort would be on the case , and whatever anyone thinks of oba , he's worth far more than the buyout clause in his contract , its the same as darren bent for gods sake !

yeah our bean counter needs a kick up the backside .

pricetag on messi is sick , but probably fair value :D he's so young still , be great to watch him in the prem , but clubs shouldnt be a allowed to live beyond their means like that , so much for roman's break even in 5 year plan .

Owen wont move abroad again so we don't need to worry about him buying out his contract.

id never say never , he could be offered some pretty crazy wages if he bought out his contract to move abroad , i dont think a player of owens age would put any restrictions on his carear with a few years left .

its only a year before he can walk for free aswell !

either way , all this verbal ping pong between mort and keegan doesnt come across to good , kev shouldnt be having to run this story again , he's obv not very happy by it .

I think Owens age will have the opposite effect tbh, he has tried it abroad, he didn't really like it so came to us. I can't see him risking what he has left again.

aye maybe , i think he's still a very marketable player tho , one of englands all time greats on record . most teams can recoup alot of the wages they would pay him from marketing and advertising, thats something i cant get my head around with this contract not being sorted . this club for ashley is one big marketing and branding venture , for this he needs players like owen tied down and face in every magazine or advert with a toon top on , that console game with his face plastered on the front wearing our shirt is a great example .

this oba thing aswell , got his agents fingerprints all over it , guessing they want that contract signed . this is all pretty stupid , we must be the only team out there to not have started talks with anyone .

If the money was right I wouldn't give a second thought to getting rid of Oba.

Kenwyne Jones is nowhere near being good enough to play for any of the top four, I wouldn't even have him here.

Saw Jones with Carlos Edwards in the Metro Centre. Pricks felt like twatting the twats. Would have dirtyed me knuckles bu. :D

£1.5m? Where'd you get that figure? Surely it would be around the £5m mark?

Irrelevant since it's peanuts either way to any club who wanted him, and Owen himself.
