Asprilla 96
I heard, from someone who knows Shepherd quite well (not Leazes btw ), that Shepherd took Robson on holiday that summer and was going to tell him he was letting him go gently as it were but bottled it / didn't have the heart. No idea if it's true but the person in question isn't a bullshitter. She told me another tale which more or less confirms Robson's senility too. Signing Cort? No. I won't try and crack any more Robson gags...it doesn't seem right.
Guest alex
To be honest everyone thinks Robson's the nicest bloke in the world but he's supposed to be quite mercenary. Not unlike KK and something which is necessary to be a good manager imo.
Tom 14011
Yay! Lets kill every thread with needless argument It's not needless. It's the crux of Fop's opinion....that he can't back up. 'The more I practice, the luckier I get.' - Gary Player Just ignore a lot of the posts now. See the start of the argument and what its about, then just skip on through. Arguing about attendances isn't pointless at all however It's very important

Especially as they'd have the public on their side from the start. The more I think about it, the better Keegan's appointment is really.

Yeh, I know But it's at least one we can do well in! 7th best overall attendance for the 8th most successful club overall iirc. It depends if it's overall or not. In the Premiership we are sixth overall and that is a notable period in my opinion, as opposed to people saying post war and pre war. Even though post war clubs did get sponsors of kinds and different levels of advertising. I think we are 16th in the all time league but we did miss out a few seasons because I don't anything before the merger counts.

He actually came third the season after this happened. Makes you wonder what we could have achieved if he'd gotten the job when he was younger (ideally when KK left). He turned us down then though as he was still at Barca. Then they went and sacked him that summer. If only we'd known and got a caretaker in. What might have been, eh? But I i think for us that is only going to get better with time.
Guest alex
8th Overall relates to major trophies. And we're 7th in overall attendances according to .com. I think we're pretty close to overtaking Everton though. Edited April 29, 2008 by alex

Craig 6670
Great news for us but totally ridiculous from Citeh's perspective. If I was a fan of them I'd be fucking livid. Ok, the second half of the season hasn't lived up to the first but they were expected to falter and it's no real surprise they've ended up where they are but...... they've had their most successful season for years, done the double over Man Utd for the first time in god knows how long and are playing flowing, attractive football. This season for them was about building for the future and, given a decent summer, they could have been seriously challenging for Europe and nudging the top 4. Shinawatra has just put them back another year - don't know who he's got illusions of attracting but I doubt they'll hold a candle to what Sven has achieved. Think back to when Sam was sacked and we were all intimating how much we'd got it wrong and Citeh had got it right.... Maybe with the manager, but certainly not with the owner - that Thai fucker doesn't have a clue! Elano for the Toon?
