snakehips 0
Sorry HF but you've not a leg to stand on there IMO, I know you hate ashley/llambias and all the lies etc etc but they were loan signings that were due to leave Au contraire my friend... he's exaclty spot on. Deal coming to an end or not, they are players who are leaving the club and are therefore weakening our push towards a return to the Premier League. Given Llambias' statement it would should be safe to assume we'd already agreed to extend the loan deals for both players until the end of the season. But once again Llambias has talked shite. Couldn't stop mesel from reading that in a Del Boy Trotter accent If only Andrew had been called Rodney Mange-tout, mange-tout.... :D
donaldstott 0
If we add Simpson to the outgoing players I'll really start to worry. If Simpson leaves that means 5 defenders left at the club (this includes Kadar and Ryan Taylor, who looks decidedly shaky at right back) . That would be absolutely suicidal. Just read on .com This is scheduled to be the final game of Danny Simpson's loan spell at SJP from Manchester United, with hopes that a permanent deal would be concluded now fading fast. Happy Face 29
According to the mirror this weekend there's been a £30,000 a week wage limit brought in on new signings. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Chris...icle290327.html That equates to £35m a season for a 22 man squad....if they were all on the maximum. By a strange coincidence it also matches the current wage bill exactly....if you believe what you hear. Suggests to me we won't be signing anyone this window unless one or more of the higher earners are sold. Geremi and Butt are out of contract at the end of the season so that'll free up some cash. But I wouldn't expect to replace Ameobi with £30K a week next season either. Edited January 18, 2010 by Happy Face

Fuck's sake man is Ashley trying as hard as he can to discourage interest in signing for NUFC? What a complete cunt
Barney 0
Must have had a bad week in Vegas. If an average player like Simpson deserves to be on £30k, that makes me a sad panda.

I would have thought that was a fair enough wage request for someone whos been a fairly solid part of our promotion push. The again Ashley refused to pay out £25k to keep Beye so that figures. Happy Face 29
In 2006 the average player salary in the top flight was £13,000. In June 2009 Premier league salaries went over £1 billion. Without more details and working on 20 squads of 22 players, that would average out at £43,706 per week*. Obviously a lot of squads are a lot bigger than that and the top four or five squads will use up the majority of that salary. I'd say Simpson would make a very average Premier League player. *EDIT: More simply put, £1.2Bn between 20 clubs equates to an average wage bill of £60m in the top flight. Ashley seems intent on spending just over half that. Yo-yo's a go-go. Edited January 18, 2010 by Happy Face

donaldstott 0
An arbitary single wage cut off doesn't make sense, surely an overall weekly wage budget would be a much better idea. If we can get shot of Geremi (again) that would remove three wages off the roster (inc Harewood and Khiz), so there must be something in the pot for paying Simpson the wage he wants. If I were Hughton I'd settle for getting Simpson. I think we can muddle through with the strikers we have and with Barton to come back that would allow Nolan to play in a more advanced area. Nolan has shown that he will score goals when he plays in the hole, Barton has never played there. Asking Barton to play in midfield he doesn't mean he needs to be a holding player, rather he needs to sit alongside Alan Smith, make tackles where necessary, show off his passing and generally get box to box. Dr Gloom 22147
barton has to rank along side the likes of luque, macelino and xisco in the cannon of nufc flops. what has he done since joining us other then get injured, put in the occasional clutch of lacklustre performances and shout off to the press. all for for £6.5m and £60+k a week. what a waste of money
