Ketsbaia 0
"Istina je da je došao njihov privatni zrakoplov, da su bili u Newcastleu i da se razgovaralo, ali to je sve što vam ja mogu reći, znate kako to ide", komentirao je za Net.hr glasnogovornik maksimirskog kluba Ado Kožul. translated it goes something like this: " It's true that their private airplane had picked them up (Modric's agents), that they were in Newcastle and talks were held, but that's all I can say, you know the procedure." Those are words of Ado Kozul, Dinamo's spokesman. According to someone on N-O Their translation site must be better than the one i used..... Seen him play and looked good but what is his preferred position would he replace Barton or Geremi in CM? Would have no problem with that he is a very impressive player. JaMoUsE 0
Wouldnt get too excited really just read this article from the times date 10th April 2008. Tottenham out to get creative with move for playmaker Luka Modric Croatian international, Luka Modric Gary Jacob Tottenham Hotspur have held discussions with Dynamo Zagreb about the possibility of signing Luka Modric. Officials from the North London club met their Croatian counterparts on Tuesday in an effort to steal a march on other Barclays Premier League sides chasing the signature of the Croatia midfield player. Juande Ramos, the Tottenham head coach, was unable to persuade Tiago, the Portugal and former Chelsea holding midfield player, to join the club in January from Juventus. He has since come to the conclusion that he needs a more creative player in the centre of midfield and that is now one of his primary ambitions for this summer's transfer window. Zdravko Mamic, the Zagreb president, has priced Modric at about £18million and has spoken to several other English clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle United. Modric, 22, was instrumental in helping his country to beat England 3-2 in the crucial European Championship qualifying match at Wembley in November, a defeat that led to Steve McClaren's departure as England head coach. Modric's vision and passing have earned praise from many observers and he can play on the left side of midfield or as a playmaker behind the forwards. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle3716692.ece Edited April 23, 2008 by JaMoUsE

Jimbo 175
Running it in the Telegraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...4/sfnnew124.xml Newcastle on verge of signing Luka Modric By Rob Stewart Newcastle are close to buying highly-rated Croatia midfielder Luka Modric in a £12 million deal with Dinamo Zagreb. Dinamo vice-president Zdravko Mamic met Newcastle representatives at the city's Malmaison hotel this week for talks over the playmaker who will be a key member of Slaven Bilic's Croatia side at Euro 2008. It is understood the deal has been spearheaded by Newcastle's director of football, Dennis Wise, and should Modric, 22, sign it would represent a significant coup as he has attracted the attention of Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal. Mamic, who oversaw Eduardo da Silva's move to Arsenal, has informally confirmed that Modric is near to finalising a move to Newcastle, where manager Kevin Keegan is short of midfield creativity. There were suggestions last night that Modric was already celebrating a money-spinning move, although it is doubtful that he would earn the £80,000 a week being paid to Dinamo old boy Mark Viduka. Modric had also been linked with Barcelona, but his compatriot, Portsmouth's Niko Kranjcar, recommended that he move to the Premier League. Modric underlined his potential during the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and was instrumental in the 3-2 defeat of England at Wembley in November that alerted clubs across Europe to his talent. Modric's arrival would hasten the departure of Turkey international Emre, but England Under-21 captain Steven Taylor is to be offered a new deal. "Taylor is a young and promising defender," Newcastle chairman Chris Mort said. "We would like him to stay at Newcastle long term. We will sit down with Steven and his father, and hopefully work something out."
