bawan 0
HABIB Beye says that Newcastle United will go into next weekend's Tyne-Wear derby with confidence sky-high following another morale-boosting point at Portsmouth. The Geordies were unlucky to leave Fratton Park with just the draw but in doing so extended their unbeaten run to five matches under Kevin Keegan. And Senegal star Beye has revealed that belief among the Toon troops is continuing to grow with each game that goes by. "The confidence is getting higher," said the 30-year-old full-back after Saturday's 0-0 draw. "There are still four games to go and we're very ambitious for those games. "There's no reason why we can't end the season not only unbeaten but also with four wins in the last four games. "We have the big derby next. It's a huge game coming up - it doesn't get much bigger than Sunderland. "It was important to get a positive result at Portsmouth so that we could go into the derby game on a high. "That now sets us up for another good week of training and hopefully we will keep this confidence and let it grow." And, of the South Coast stalemate, Beye told the Chronicle: "I think it was possible to take all three points. "There were some opportunities to do that against Portsmouth. "They also had some chances to win it. "But I think it was a good game for us. "It's a point taken and it helps us a little more build up to next season. "What you have to remember is that it's difficult to win in Portsmouth."
MattM4 0
Very much reminiscent of 2 years ago. Shit rather uneventful season. Big change of pace near the end and confidence growing up all the way to the derby. Let's hope for a similar result.
Howay 12496
Hopefully Keegan lets Beye attack like he did against Reading and Tottenham, I got the feeling he'd been told to defend more against Pompey because they are quick on the counter. Just good to see any indication that confidence is high.
