Oh, I guess Figurines rock. They're very good at least. Baby Woodrose rock in a 60s organ kinda way.

Yeah they're very good, there's a lot of excellent music comming out of Scandanavia at the moment.

The only Scandinavian music that springs to mind as any good for me is Dungen.

I've not heard of most of the stuff you lot are going on about though.

I got Oh you're so silent Jens when it was getting a load of praise, but it never did it for me.

Checking back on my opinion of it at the time, it seems to contradict what I think now....

Jens Lekman - Oh You're So Silent Jens.

Best album of '06 so far. A strangely upbeat melancholy melding of Beck style samples and acoustics; and Morrisey style lyricism. Lovely stuff.

I Wonder why I never went back to it more after first listening to it. Might have to increase its footprint on my playlists.

Jens Lekman never did it for me when I first listened to it but I've listened to odd songs again recently and I am liking them a lot, I will have to give it another go.

Off the top of my head, my favourite scandanavian bands currently are;

I'm From Barcelona

Sarena-Maneesh

Love Is All

The Figurines

(Are the Envelopes from there as well?)

Listen to the song embedded on that page. That's a great album for the current time/mood of year.

I've got their album and I have to I can't make my mind up about it at the moment.

Yeah, it's very much an album you have to be in the right mood for.

I was thinking that. Probably have to listen to it at the right time too. I don't think it's an album to listen to while driving to work!

I'd agree with that one! It's probably a very good late-night driving album.

Yeah, I love listening to Yo La Tengo's And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out when I'm driving late and I thought it might have a similar effect.

Roads by Portishead is without doubt the best late night driving song though.

Still love 'Dummy', especially 'It Could Be Sweet'.

Just got hod of:

Andrew Bird - Noble Beast

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

Antony And The Johnsons -The Crying Light

Bon Iver - Blood Bank

Could be a good start to 2009. <_<

PS - I wonder if albums will continue to be released in alphabetical order all year :D

Ooh didn't even know about three of those and Andrew Bird is a personal favourite.

Listened to Merriweather a few times and despite hearing that it's their most pop album which could see them getting mass appeal, I don't see it. Very similar to Strawberry Jam. Not that that's a bad thing.

Will have to aquire the rest tonight.
