Happy Face 29
Art Brut's is just a best of isn't it? Iron and Wine have a new one I think. I just saw it on the metacritic list of recent releases, was going to 'obtain' it tonight. Wouldn't have bothered if it turned out to be a greatest hits....but turns out it's a 2 disc set with B-sides, covers and live performances too, so i might still give it a bash. Happy Face 29
https://play.spotify.com/user/holtc1/playlist/2cDJoangJlQ3mWh9Jgu1h9 Two of the tracks are just long interviews with a woman who became a porno star, but otherwise it's my first favourite of 2014. Dingo Fence makes me giggle. I love sweary songs and it's 10 minutes of Cat's favourite one. EDIT: Why didn't the playlist embed @@Ant ?

Well recommended if you like the current psychedelic revival, Beatles, Pretty Things, etc.

Happy Face 29
The Top 1% of Artists Earn 77% of Recorded Music Income ”The music industry is a ‘superstar economy,’ that is to say a very small share of the total artists and works account for a disproportionately large share of all revenues” In other words, the exact opposite of the Long Tail, a theory that seemed exciting at the time but has now been thoroughly disproven. Because instead of embracing choice, consumers have actually been completely overloaded by it. The result, according to Mulligan, is a ‘tyranny of choice‘ that makes consumers less likely to explore, and more likely to glom around mainstream artists. http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/permalink/2014/03/05/toponepercent I find Twitter, Grooveshark, Itunes etc completely useless for recommending or promoting anything that other people aren't already listing to in large numbers, It's the nature of their recommendations to look at your playlist and link it to the most frequently played tracks by other people that like them.
