re-installing windows

hi peeps

 

i have windows xp on at the moment (dodgy copy :D ) i want to wipe my pc and reinstall the op software on it, i'm torn between vista and xp wheres best to download the aformentioned software !!!! nod nod wink wink and which is best

xp is better (faster) but it's run its course.

You can find cracked versions of XP about (or a code and just avoid WGE), but it's so integral to Vista (which is loaded with all sorts of spyware anyway), I doubt there's any option of that.

 

 

As Park Life says for an average spec system WinXP is still faster pound for pound, but with Vista's capability to handle more RAM and DX10 being Vista only (even though only a handful of games actually use DX10 in any meaningful way at the moment) it is unfortunately the only long term solution.

 

Although if you don't use your PC for gaming then you may as well give something like Ubuntu or the KDE 4.0 version of Kubuntu (when it comes out) a go.

thick question time!! if i install the other systems ie ubuntu can i still run all programs etc that i have on here, torrents etc? :D

New versions out on Thursday.

 

Best way to see if you like it is to just run it off a live CD and have a play (it can be slightly unstable like this though).
