POLICE have raided two cannabis factories in Doncaster finding hundreds of plants worth more than £100,000.

Drug unit officers swooped on a large detached house in Cantley Lane, Bessacarr, after receiving tip-offs from members of the public.

They unearthed 349 plants - worth over £100,000 - and thousands of pounds worth of specialist hydroponics equipment after executing the search warrant on Monday.

The raid was then found to be linked to another house in Rowan Close, Auckley - again containing specialist heating and watering systems.

A man was arrested by police at the ho

use in Auckley and a further three men were subsequently arrested.

All four were charged with the production of cannabis.

They were Farhan Ud Din, 32, from Branton, Michael Hollick, 29, of Thorne, Ian Duce, 25, of Armthorpe, and Arshad Mahmood Shah, 31, from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

All four were due to appear before Doncaster magistrates today in connection with the offence.

Detective Constable Neil Beresford, from the Doncaster drugs unit, described the discovery as a "significant haul" and said the information provided by the general public was vital in cracking the case.

He said: "This is a significant haul. After receiving information from the public and doing some research this warrant was executed effectively.

"We would like to thank the public for their help and ask the public to continue giving us information as we really do act on the information we receive."
