Papa Lazaru 0
People just needed to give him some time to get the players playing the right way, with confidence and things fell into place nicely. Also there's the fact that the players we have are alot better than some fans think, and with the right man in charge were going to show that. I mean going by some people, Owen was finished, a waste of space and could do nothing at all except get on the end of chances laid on a plate for him, and despite Viduka being a hate figure for many they must realise when he plays, we play better football, everything can go through him in the opposition half so he gets the best out of Owen and Martins. As for keegan, there is something unique and special about him and NUFC together that doesn't happen elsewhere for him or here with other managers, so why not have him do it a thrid time here. Also a small amount of credit to Allardyce for bringing in Beye, Faye and Enrique all of whom will do well under Keegan, and perhaps even Barton will now do the business as he's getting better each game. acrossthepond 901
Never doubted. Where are the Thomases now? Are we still the laughingstock of the league? Keegan still getting fired three weeks into his time here? Keegan and NUFC = match made in heaven. He understands us. It's sad that it seems nobody else does, although if you listen to the media these days, they've made a remarkable turnaround, the fair-weather bastards. When we're losing, it's because Keegan's out of his depth, but when we're winning, it's because of his "tactical masterstroke" of playing 4-3-3. And when we hit a bad patch (as is bound to happen at some point) they'll drag out the tired old "past it" cliches.

Noelie 103
.................... it's because of his "tactical masterstroke" of playing 4-3-3. ....................................... I seem to recall that Alf Ramsey used a 4-3-3 formation when England won the World Cup back in 1966. Known as the 'wingless wonders' so they were. Happy Face 29
I think it's all down to whether or not the players want to play for their manager. Keegan is the only manager who's enjoyed the complete backing of the support in 20 odd years. Under other regimes the players used to know if they fucked up the manager would get the blame. Now they have a manager they have to respect, even when they haven't won one in ten. When even a manager of Robsons stature doesn't have the backing of those in the stands it's a worry who can come in after Keegan though.

Most managers bar Souness and possibly Big Fat Sam had the support behind them from the start. Doubts only crept in later on.

I do think enthusiasm and honesty will be essential for any future manager as well as getting his team to play without fear. Three points Allardyce didn't manage.
