Das Experiment.

German film based on true events; the experiment with prisoners and prison guards that gets out of control as the guards abuse their power. Some quite powerful scenes of the prisoners humiliated and tormented, quite hard viewing for me at times but a brilliant film nonetheless.

Never heard of it. Will keep an eye for it though.

Saw. :)

Still has a higher IMDB score than Superman.

Inconceivable.

What, that shite fest with Hugh Laurie in it based on Ben Elton's book? Underrated? Are you mad?

It's a Princess Bride reference.

I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover, but I don't think I will.

Parky recommends.

That's why I'd rather call it unknown than underrated. I never knew it got dubbed.

ha that is awful.

the film is pretty good though. a little tired in terms of it's themes and how it presents them ('Absolute power corrupts absolutely') but an engrossing watch.

I loved The Pledge, Sean Penn directed film with Jack Nicholson as a retired detective who promised to catch a child killer. I thought it was brilliant but it got a slagging.

Not seen that either.

The Last Detail

Hugely underrated Jack Nicholson movie that slips under most peoples radar.

The Last Boy Scout

OK not exactly high-brow but in my opinion its better than some of the Die Hard movies.

That reminds me "The Two Jakes" Nicholson directed follow up to Chinatown has some redeeming qualities.

Big Trouble In Little China. Possibly Carpenter's finest hour (certainly his most fun) but I'm sure it was critically panned.

Quick Change. Probably Bill Murray's funniest film with a fantastic cast (Murray, Gina Davis, Randy Quaid, Jason Robards, Monk, Stanley Tucci, Clarrence Boddicker, Phil Hartman) and a bloke shouting Nude Women, Nude Women, Clowns Welcome, Nude Women. Excellent Stuff.

So I Married An Axe Murderer. Mike Myers best film. "Heed troosers".

The Black Dahlia. Got a panning from all quarters but looked gorgeous and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Point Break. One of the best action films of the ninetys.

Murder On The Orient Express - Sidney Lumet directing one of the greatest casts ever assembled. Would probably make my top twenty.

Fire Walk With Me is a masterpiece for me. I admit I was disapointed with it at first as it didn't resolve Coopers situation in the black lodge but the more I've watched of Lynch's work the more I love it.

I've had Inland Empire on dvd for ages mind you and I just can't get round to watching it for some reason (possibly because I want to try and watch it in one session, something that's becoming increasingly difficult for me to do with anything over an hour and a half long).
