Titus Bramble

I thought he had a great game yesterday, i see some in their ratings thing also have him in the top three and he made it into the Sky Sports team of the week. However i see lazy journalists are still continuing to post about his "comical defending".

From the Telegraph :

there was also some sporadic classic comedic defending from Souness's men, with Celstine Babayaro and Titus Bramble tending to feature in the most entertaining cameos.

Is that written by the Mackem lover Louise Taylor by any chance? If so ignore it.

I thought he had an excellent game yesterday. Made very few mistakes and as said already his distribution was good. I seem to remember one pass in the second half diagonally across the pitch from under pressure direct to his intended target (might have been Charlie, cant quite remember!).

He won everything in the air, and played a tremendous 40 yard pass to Owen.

The only error he made resulted in the disallowed goal, when he tried to play his way out of trouble. He dithered and allowed himself to be closed down, and instead of clearing it out of danger, he tried to play himself out of it and made the situation worse.

We could have easily been talking about how Bramble's mistake cost us the three points, and would have forgotten how well he played otherwise.

But that's always the problem - for 89 minutes he looks top class and then............

I always thought Woodward was very good at keeping him focused and awake - we need soemoen else out here who can do the same

EDIT of course I meant Woodgate... I think......:razz:;):)

Bramble had an excellent game as he was doing frequently last season before the injury. His heading and tackling were top class including one absolutley crucial challenge near the 6 yard box.

Also his distribution, including some long passes across the pitch were impressive as usual.

And Boumsong whilst not great was better than recently so it may be that Bramble has as much of a positive effect on Boum as people were giving credit to Boum for improving Titus.

3-5-2

Disaster waiting to happen.

It is, was and ever shall be a steaming pile of shite in the premiership. In the hands of Robson who knew something about tactis it was an embarassing load of bollocks, the thought of it being tried now would be seriously disturbing.

Has any team ever made it work in this country?

Not to any degree of success. All the top teams used 4-4-2 to win things, 3-5-2 was used by dull, mid table teams who went nowhere but thought it was clever and inventive.

The problem with 3-5-2 or variations on it are that the wing backs are absolutely crucial. I don't think Carr or Babayaro are good enough defensively or in an attacking sense for it to work for us.
