khay 10
Ivory Coast international Bakary Kone has told skysports.com of his desire to seal a switch to the Premier League. Kone currently plays for Ligue 1 club Nice but he is keen to follow in the footsteps of a number of his international team-mates and move to England. The striker is a huge fan of the English game and feels he would be able to succeed despite being small in stature. "The Premier League is the most exciting league," Kone told skysports.com. "Every player in the world dreams of playing in that league, with the big crowds and the coverage it gets around the globe. Quality "When I was growing up it was all about the French league but today people talk of (Didier) Drobga, (Abdoulaye) Meite, (Didier) Zokora, (Salomon) Kalou. I really want to be part of that. "I am very fast and technically very good. All the players in the Premier League have those qualities so I can make a name for myself." Arsene Wenger identified Kone last summer as one of the hottest prospects playing in France. The 26-year-old admits he would be attracted by an offer from Arsenal, but would also be happy to play for any of the Premier League's other top sides. Asked which team he likes, Kone replied: "Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all good teams, even Portsmouth, and West Ham are not bad." David Kelly 1280
I thought that was hilarious too but one thing it does show is that to foreign players we are still seen as one of the biggest clubs in the league despite finishing in poor league positions since Robsons departure. He mentions us ahead of teams like Portsmouth, Villa and West Ham despite the fact that they are way above us and Everton and Blackburn don't even get a mention. If we do stay up (and I'm not incredibly confident of that at the minute), I think we will still be able to attract quality players. Maybe not ones who could push us to challenging for honours but good enough to vastly improve us over the shite we have at the moment.
Meenzer 15871
Let's just hope those quality players aren't limited to short-in-stature Africans.
sammynb 3640
We're already a team of pygmies, being Africans ones won't make us any better.
