snakehips 0
I find it incredulous that anyone would assume NUFC didn't buy in the transfer window because the board didn't want to It was Keegan's call. Keegan would have been told how much was available when he took the job and if the money wasn't forthcoming in January he would have 'done one'. Leazes, I hope you're not pitching your tent in the 'hope this board fails' camp, so you can later tell us you told us so if it does go tits up !! having experienced relegation twice, I don't think so. Keegan is hardly going to walk after a few weeks, BTW, with the reputation he has already in the southern media. If backing doesn't come, or Wise [the DOF that one or two tossers have harped on about for ages which brings guaranteed success] sticks his nose in, then he will. Last summers transfers were shite, for the most part. I'm not talking just about the transfer fees, I'm talking about wages too, and you have to pay the going rate to get the players the top clubs want. Just because some players in the past have flopped it doesn't mean that particular aspect of the policy was wrong. It was right, what was wrong was the judgement of the manager. If we get relegated, its because we didn't replace Solano and to a lesser extent Dyer, and despite this being rammed home in the following months, still did nothing about it in January. Don't fret, Leazes, we wont go down. And I'll eat my hat if we don't spend a fuckin' mint in the summer.
Bombadil 0
I have to say I'm worried. I'm not really expecting anything other than a loss on Saturday, but if we don't beat Blackburn at home in our next game, we will be in serious trouble IMO. As someone else said though, if we somehow manage to get a fighting draw against Man Utd, it will be a big boost for morale.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Been falling behind our rivals in that regard of late like. Not just last summer either. Divvent bother with the 5th best speech though. Please. OK, Villa will now probably overtake us. What if we fall back to where the Halls and Shepherd found us as soon as they have gone We'll need to spend £50 million+ in the summer just to get back on a par with the likes of Everton, Villa, Man City and Spurs. Basically, spending megabucks to get into a scrap for the final UEFA place. The top three are over the horizon and gone (with Liverpool on the bubble only because Rafa refuses to take the league seriously).

You know what wages we were offering? perhaps you could explain why Distin, for example, preferred a shite little club such as Portsmouth, when Duff chose us instead of Liverpool. Before you reply, consider that there was a time when we had a shite board and 3 of our best players all left Newcastle and fucked off to Liverpool. Guest alex
If Allardyce had been peddled when me and Jimbo said we wouldn't be in this predicament and we would have bought in January - fact It's opinion rather than fact. I'm glad The fat bastard has gone and we've got KK but I don't think the board was ever 100% behind him (understandably perhaps) which probably undermined his position. No, I would imagine it's happened a fair few times but I remember my Dad telling me it happened to Carlisle the one and only time they were in the top flight. Didn't Millwall go down about 10 years ago while being up the top till about November? When Sheringham and co were there? Would have been more like 15-20 years ago. I think Man City were relegated the year after they won the league too (years and years ago).
Matt 0
No it was the season Sunderland got promoted the first time into the PL, IIRC. Think they beat Millwall 5-0 or 6-0 and Millwall went into freefall after that.

No, I would imagine it's happened a fair few times but I remember my Dad telling me it happened to Carlisle the one and only time they were in the top flight. I remember Carlisle winning 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on the first day of the season and, therefore, being top of the league. If they went down that season, then the question is answered. Dr Gloom 22540
one thing for sure, we're definitely not too good to go down based on the performances so far this season. just depends on whether there are three teams as shit or shitter than us....at this stage it's looking like a close call. plus the team that sinks like a stone at this stage of the season (like we are) usually struggles. i can't imagine many things worse than being relegated. russyy 0
yes there are teams shitter than us,but remember some of those shitter teams this season have got a point off us or beaten us. Relegation dare i say IS a real possibility hope to fxxk i'm wrong as for me KK will bring nowt to improve our under achievers.
peasepud 59
I dont ever want to believe we would go down, if we did we couldnt argue against it though, we're definitely relegation material. There is a bit of me (just a little bit mind) which wonders how much happier we would be as fans during next season if we did go down. If you talk to a sensible makem they all say the same thing, the best times theyve enjoyed as fans have been in the Championship. Not half the pressure we have in the Prem, knowing you're good enough to beat anyone there. Sometimes, just sometimes I long for waking up on a Saturday morning and thinking "gerrin match today!" not the horrible feeling of dread that I have in my gut now. JawD 99
Aye, wouldnt saying I was looking forward to the game as I have in the past, more as I fully expect us to get twatted today. I dont enter the school of thought though that Id be happier winning in the championship than loosing in the Prem. Through perhaps blind faith, I know we will stay up and fully expect us to be on the road to improvement. Somebody fucking give me a shake man!
