Isegrim 10041
Becks and Becks Vier both shite, and Werder Bremen aren't what I class as a big club, look at their attendances up from 1960-2000, never above 30,000 even Boro can better that. Well in regards to Becks it is probably a question of taste. But your obsession about the sizes of clubs is hilarious. Especially when it is as ignorant as in the case of Werder Bremen. I doubt that you would find many Germans agreeing with you. Probably even the vast majority of HSV fans wouldn't deny that Bremen have the status of a "big" club. There are many facts to consider, such as the size of the city and especially the stadium (which was pretty small for a long time and only vastly improved in the last ten years. It will be the size of SJP when the latest "upgrade" is finished in a couple of years. Average attendances will further raise too). Anyway, I don't see the point in solely looking into decade old data to define the current status of a club. Of course, history matters, but the "size" of a club isn't fixed, especially it is possible for clubs to grow. Would you reject Bayerns claim to be a big club because they were rather small until the early 60s (in fact so small that they were not deemed worthy to get chosen for the Bundesliga - in contrast to Bremen btw). Bayern's success came in the late 60s and 70s, and attendances only started to grow after they build the Olympic stadium. And what is with those "big" clubs who had huge attendances and success several decades ago. Do they remain big clubs just because of their long distant history? I know these kinds of arguments from German fans as well (for size read tradition). It normally comes from people who have a massive inferiority complex and are desperately trying to prove something. Whatever this actually is... Pay no attention Stevie, he doesn't even know where South Shields is man. Bastid! My taxi driver
