According to Look North, The Angel is 10 years old today!

Personally, I love it. I think the size, shape, location and material are just perfect. The realisation that the steelwork would go that lovely rusty colour was brilliant imo.

Yeah, I love it too. Me and my mate Paul went to see it the day it was completed and we couldn't believe the scale of it when we first caught site of it (coming from the North along the Western Bypass past the Metro Centre).

You and Paul going to see an Angel on Valentine's day. It just doesn't get any gayer tbh.

 Sure it was a Sunday like. Which would have been the 15th. Huckle-tastic nonetheless.

I'd love to play all high-and-mighty about the lercals interviewed on Look North at the time who absolutely hated it, but I have to admit I really didn't get the point of it at first. Love it now like, it's great having a landmark visible from both road and rail that tells you you're nearly home.

There seems to be a hell of a lot of road accidents around that area. I wonder if the accidents are caused by drivers looking at the Angel and not concentrating on the road?

Typical woman. Enraptures you and leaves you a cripple.

I was infdifferent to it at the time (ie not arsed either way) but you have to say it's put Gateshead on the map. It is an icon, no doubt. Although, I thought it was supposed to have gone shiney by now?

What metals go shiny when exposed to the elements like?

Here man, they said it would change colour and go shiney. We were lied to. I want my tax back.

They'd only use it to open a centre for crippled black lesbian immigrants anyway.

It always was rusty, pre-rusted even, wasn't it?

Would have looked excellent in stainless steel or something silvered, but cheaper and less maintenance I guess, and it should have been twice the size (would have been genuinely impressive then).

How does your garden grow, incidentally?
