Jimbo 175
Premier League clubs will be allowed to name seven substitutes in matches from the start of next season. The change was suggested by leading clubs such as Manchester United last year and replicates the regulations in European and international games. The Premier League agreed to discuss the issue, amid concerns that it would favour clubs with big squads. Premier League voting rules require 14 out of the 20 member clubs to back any suggested rule changes. Coaches are currently restricted to naming five substitutes, and are able to use a maximum of three of them.

Bombadil 0
No surprise Man Utd suggested it and the FA adopted it, as it will benefit the bigger teams more. I read somewhere that Spurs were the first club to suggest it. Never mind though, it may benefit the bigger teams more, but I think it's a good thing. RlCO 0
It actually helps smaller clubs more than the big ones, as now smaller clubs don't have to risk not having a keeper on the bench, and can give precocious twats like N'Zogbia a place on the bench, and clear signals to the likes of Ameobia they're not wanted. Every man and his dog will stay at Man U whether he's on the bench or in the C team. There really isn't that much advantage change anyway though as you can still only change 3. Guest alex
it was a better game when you had 11 players and no subs....................... No, that was ridiculous imo and it ruined lots of big games. Look at the 1957 FA Cup final where the 'keeper had his jaw smashed then twice returned to the pitch with smelling salts only to go and play outside left. Farcical. Plus, old football was shite. I've seen the 1955 Cup final and it was like watching paint dry. I assume you're just on the wind-up like........................
The Fish 11080
did you see that programme that was supposed to be a comparison of the 1955 cup final and the 07 cup final? The football was shit! in both finals... seriously though I don't think this is a good thing. It does favour the big clubs, they can bring on internationals with the ability to change the game, wheras the smaller squads will struggle to have 19 premiership standard players. It was '57 and 2007. The fact we weren't playing should have been a giveaway But aye, that's what made me think of it. I won a competition on N-O ages ago and got a copy of the 1955 Cup Final (us v. Man City) as it had just been released and it's absolutely shite. Like watching Sunday League stuff.
