Anybdoy watch this last night?

Dave Gorman driving across the U.S. in an old car and only using independent 'gas' stations, accommodation and eating establishments.

It was okay, but ended up being a bit top heavy with looking for gas stations all the time.

The thing is, it didn't half make me feel like doing the same thing i.e. drving across the States.

Anyone?

there's a big hole in the middle - anything between the Mississippi and the Rockies is 3-4 days of dire monotony

I know - I lived there

Driving here can be nice. There's a certain boundlessness to it. The speed limits are ridiculous though. They post limits that they don't expect anyone to follow, ie. 55 when you can go about 80. Makes much more sense just to post the limit you need to stick to.

Made me feel the same. Was nice to see america in a true light. I always imagine it being sunny and nice all the time but in reality parts of it are a total shit holes and must be depressing to live there

Gorman gets a bit heavy at times for my liking though

Can't stand Dave Gorman.

I feel the same. The programme showed just how little natural humour the guy has as I was expecting a prog packed full of funnies, but the reality was virtually nothing from the guy in any sort of wit.

Is he meant to be a comedian? What exactly is his profession?

He's a stand up innee? Not of the 'joke teller' type, but more in a wacky/wierd/observation type. I think!! :P

I drove from Key West to Memphis stopping at most of the main cities on the way, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta etc.

Its more fun driving when its dark and you can stop for food in the middle of nowhere. Its like something out of 'The Hitcher'
