Tom 14013
Ended up in Bar 1892 tbh God bless whomsoever* your Mr Brownlow might have been. *When exactly should one use "whoever", "whosoever" or "whomsoever"? It sounds right above, but I wouldn't have a clue. My mate got me it so i only had to pay trainfare, only problem was no fucker there sings at all. Ever. David Kelly 1260
I was going to praise Owen. I thought he had his best game in a Newcastle shirt. But then I remembered, England are playing midweek, so it was to be expected. He'll be injured by the time we go to Villa. Owen was fucking awfull until he scored and then he became a different player. Before then he resembled Fumaca in terms of pure shite. If only the ref had allowed his first (perfectlty valid) goal it might have been a different story. Dreadful game for the most part and showed us how poor we actually are (although I think Keegan will get us playing better). Given should have been out for their goal instead of yet again staying put (although how they weren't given offside is beyond me) and we allow far to many balls to be played in without a challenge. Butt was wank again and I thought his awfull passing at a time when we had actually got on top and started to turn the screw, led to us conceding too much possesion and imputus to them. Emre was playing far too deep and needs to push closer to the front two if we are to create anything. Hopefully Beye and Enrique will be back for Saturday as Carr is wank and N'Zogbia cannot defend (although he does link up quite will with Duff going forward). Barton is anything but a right midfielder. Smith works much better up front but is no goal threat whatsoever at the moment. Cacapa was very good, hopefully he will be paired with Faye on Saturday but I fear Keegan buys the Taylor hype.

"Owen missed a canny chance. He'll be saving his goals for England no doubt. Be a totally different player for England, you just watch." His thick mates "Aye...aye yer reet there like". Mongoloids. Kevin Carr's Gloves 3958
Way too much negativity on here. We played better than we have for a while. Butt was worse player by a country mile. Barton is a centre mid and was unable to stay on the wing. owen was to stagnant for way too much of the game. But we passed better than we have in ages we had shots on target and we looked like we wanted to create which is more than we had under BSA. I think there is a canny bit of negativity, and I think we're slowly improving. But I have to say, I don't remember too many shots on target. I think the performance improved for about 20 minutes after we scored from both the players and the fans as well. Charlie and Duff linked up well at times during the period as well, although obviously I would rather Charlie be playing further up the pitch once we have the bodies available again at the back. Duff sold Young the dummy twice for Charlie, which was quality.

Confidence is the key to everything here. If we had beaten them it would have set us up for the rest of the season - we need that first win. Kid Dynamite 7168
Did anyone notice that we watered only our half of the pitch before the game and at half time. Obviously been ordered to play carpet football by KK. We started to in the 2nd half but int he 1st half the ball was hardly ever on the floor! Happy Face 29
I know it gets a mention in every match thread, but how shit was Given's distribution again? Just a simple pass to a defender will do man. Harper got as many clean sheets in 8 games as Given has managed in 17, he makes far more saves than him. Given should be on the bench in all honesty. We'll obviously need a few more players with pace if he wants to play that way otherwise we may as well just get a long throw expert.

Park Life 71
TBH if Boro hadn't shown us so much respect they would have won at a canter. When they changed formation for the last 15 min and came forward in numbers they were all over us.
David Kelly 1260
Given's been poor this season for me. He never drops the clangers you see from Robinson or James but now he's not making the class saves he was either. He may just be on a poor run of form or it may now be that he's stagnated here and we should be looking to replace him.

When they changed formation for the last 15 min and came forward in numbers they were all over us. Nah, 1-1 was a fair result. We just sat too deep and panicked a bit at the end I reckon. We could have chucked it away but that would have been harsh.

This is not exactly uncommon in football, is it ??!!

We could have chucked it away but that would have been harsh. They gave us a lot of posession by playing one up and dropping deep for about 70 odd min. When they came out they were the better side for whatever reason. But for the post we would have lost. If GS had done his research he would have actually had no fear of us...Even shit sides who attack us get rewards. In saying that we played some of our best football this season in the first half and the Owen goal should have stood. Draw fair yes. But too much fear to bode well for upcoming games I'm afraid. On a positive note I'm very impressed by the way Duff is beginning to play. Much more positive and seems to have license to roam and probe for weaknesses. That is for me the first signs of the KK factor.

A lad I sit with has always hated the budgie, but even he grudgingly accepts that his performances have come on a long way from what he'd given us before.
