beckham can't have too many complaints. if we diddn't play in a micky mouse league, he'd be in the squad. he chose the money ahead of prolonging his international career.

Hardly, he'd been told it was over.

second choice steve always said the door was open to be fair if that's what you're referring to.

if beckham had stayed at madrid or gone to a top european side, hw ould almost certainly have picked up 100 caps. but then he wouldn't be on the £25m a season or whatever it is, he's on now

I like Posh and Becks. Can't understand the hate when they're two fantastic role models if you ask me.

Shame.

Hope he gets his 100th at some point.

he should only get a cap if he merits it though, otherwise whats the point really?

Exactly.

I don't know, maybe the point could be that he's an extremely popular member of the squad who (if his professionalism and ability are given their just reward) can inspire other squad members to put the work in and reach the same level of respect in the game.

Or they could just say "Fuck him! He's on the scrap heap" and show the current crop what we do to even the very best players that we have in this country.

Mike Atherton-tastic if never gets it like. Wonder who he'll hate the most - McLaren or Capello.

Don't quite get the Atherton reference - he retired of his own accord, a year after playing in his 100th test.

Unless you're referring to never making a ton at Lord's, but being ran out for 99...

I'd ordinarily agree.

But I don't like him. :icon_lol:

Think he's been out for 99 more than anyone else (in tests).

Ok then, he thought his England career was over when he decided to go (same goes for his Madrid career). Don't blame him for going anyway, he had nothing left to prove.

How is she a good role model?

She's a multi-millionairess in her own right.

She's never been in the papers for ANYTHING negative I know of.

She kept a dignified silence through her husband's little affair and stuck by him/her family.

He porked some dirty bint while he had 2 kids at home. Not exactly awesome role modelness if you ask me!

He could basically have any woman in the world. He's got them throwing pussy at him. And he's weakened once. I only wish I could turn away that many women.

Don't think Owen is, as an aside.

He's already on 88 you know.

Or was that a dig at his fitness?

Form and fitness. I thought he was on 80-odd. Genuinely think he might not get many more.

well yes, but he can't begrudge the fact that his england carreer is over one short of 100 caps. he chose the money to play in a league that's about as competitive as the english league 2 instead of signing for one of the top european clubs (which he could have done) and staying on to fight for his place in the england set up.

I know where you're coming from (I can definitely see both sides to this one), I just think it would be both a nice gesture and get the story out of the way in what is the archetypal nothing game.

if i was cappelo i'd play him too. then it wouldn't be hanging over him for the remainder of his time in charge of england. you know that as soon as we go through a sticky streak, the rags will be on at him to recall goldenballs.

So SKY News/Sport can bang on and on and on and on and on about the fuckin' squad in their programmes. SKY have revolutionised the boring over and over inspection of trivial international football news over the last ten years. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.
