Park Life 71
What good strikers could we get really though? Not really my job to find quality players. This window has been a total fuck up (unless summat happens late on). And we might pay a higher price than people are willing to entertain. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
it's fucking typical that martins has got the pace but lacks composure and owen is cool in front of goal but he's lost his pace. and viduka is fat and the less said about shola and smith the better We need some young healthy strikers who aren't scatty or lazy. Or some of those pods that Jeff Goldblum got into in 'The Fly'.

sammynb 3640
When a player gets caught offside it doesn't mean his timing is out neccessarily Sammy. It can be the other player not releasing the ball soon enough. And to be fair to Owen, the timing of his runs still looks pretty good to me. Fair call Alex and I agree our midfield seems to hold onto the ball as if their life depends upon it instead of utilising a quick release. But I still feel part, not all, of the problem is Owen is over compensating due to his lack of pace and being caught out because of it. I always remember Owen's skill was to nip in under the defenders feet, knock the ball around them and set off towards goal. Now he seems to be relying on the defender making a mistake and the ball spilling through to him once he's got in behind the defence.
acrossthepond 900
He's well past it, I've been saying that since before the season began. Too late to cash in though. To be honest we should've had this waster off our wage bill ages ago. I'll be surprised if he scores even another 5-6 this season. It seems like he gets one decent chance a match and muffs it - and, in his defence, the decent chances he doesn't muff he gets called wrongly offside for. Fop 1
I agree it's not really Owen's fault. His pace is definitely gone, which is a real worry, but it's hard to judge his timing when I can't even remember the last decent through-ball or pass there was for him to run on to. If we'd been given as much offside leeway as Arsenal (about 1/5 of the pitch), even that probably wouldn't have been an issue.
