Chimbonda

PASCAL CHIMBONDA has stunned Tottenham by declaring: I’m off to join Kevin Keegan.

The French full-back claims he is ready to accept a lucrative offer to be part of the Keegan revolution at Newcastle.

He will shun a Carling Cup final place to move on.

There was also another shock for Spurs fans last night, as boss Juande Ramos admitted Dimitar Berbatov could still be on his way out.

Ramos said: “There is always a risk he could go while the transfer market stays open.”

Chimbonda, though, is adamant his deal has been struck.

Out celebrating Tottenham’s 5-1 demolition of Arsenal on Tuesday night, the 28-year-old bragged to pals: “Kevin Keegan has approached me and they’ve offered me more money.

Offer

I am definitely leaving Spurs. It’s all about the money. I don’t care about the final, I don’t care about the cup.”

SunSport revealed earlier this month how Chimbonda was one of eight stars that Ramos wanted to axe.

Ramos could be ready to let Bulgarian hitman Berbatov go if he gets a £30million offer.

He added: “Berbatov is a great player, so it is normal there is some interest from other clubs.

“But he is happy and enjoying playing for Tottenham and we rely on him a great deal.

“So it would have to be an offer from a very big club with a very big contract to make him leave us.”

Ramos is still trying to tie up his own deals for midfielder Tiago, full-back Gilberto and Valencia’s Spain midfielder David Albelda.

sounds like a cock ;)

This definitely sounds made up to me, especially considering the source.

Would be a crying shame if all we ended up signing in January was a replacement for one of our better players so far this season although I do think he's a good attcking fullback.

Didn't he hand in his transfer request right after the final whistle of last season's final game, while the rest of the team were still celebrating in the dressing room? I think Jewell said that. Classy.

why does everyone think going for money means hes automatically a mercenary he has no club loyalties in english football (that i know off) so it simply comes down to whoever pays him more, i know if someone offered me more moeny to go work for them i would its the same thing.

Chimbonda's a peasant. He wanted out of Tottenham in the last off-season and since he didn't get what he wanted, he sulked and played utter shithouse.

We've got Habib Beye who is just as good if not better. It doesn't make sense at all. Not the priority area to fix up now is it?

Surely that's the definition of a mercenary?

Your implying that the majority of the population is made up of mercenaries though,

Surely that's the definition of a mercenary?

the acutal definition of a mercenary can only applied to someone who takes part in an armed conflict so no it isn't ;)

Not necessarily but let's not get into the semantics, let's just call him a money grabbing bastard then?

lol true enough just thought it was a bit harsh to label him a mercenary for simply wanting more money ;)

Erm no, not necessarily my friend.

It can mean;

"primarily concerned with money or other reward."

or

"money-grabbing and greedy".

all depends on what definition you follow these days, most words seem to have different meanings to be incorperated into for lack of a better word slang (brain block ), the traditional definition applies to those who fight in a foreign war for private gain, but your definition does seem to be becoming more popular,

either way it doesn;t really matter just thought it was harsh labelling him as one as most people would do the same as him. ;)

Wigan probably paid him around £12k per week.

He went to Spurs because he thought he was worth around £25k per week and they would pay it.

He now realises that NUFC will pay him around £40k per week.

As defender's wages go, it's debateable if he is being too mercenary imo.

Of course, I've yet to discuss his wages throughout his career with him so can't be certain of the figures above ;)

I'm just in a pedant mood. ;)

Normally I couldn't care less, and would just read between the lines.

It's all good...if we don't end up signing this mercenary.
