Jimbo 175
Galaxy discard defender Having given away a penalty within ten minutes of his debut for LA Galaxy, former Magpie Celestine Babayaro has been released by the MLS side. Under the League's capped salary structure, sides can trial players in pre-season but then have to waive their rights to any that signing any that would break their budget. That fate has befallen Babayaro, who now goes into a pool of available players from which other MLS sides are able to negotiate to sign - assuming they remain within their own salary cap limit Injury problems and visa difficulties had restricted the 29 year-old defender to just one 45 minute appearance for Ruud Gullit's side - in a friendly defeat against South Korean side Seoul last weekend. Zathras 296
Played all of 45 minutes and was exposed worse than he was with us. Absolutely shocking, and further proof that the front office over in L.A. doesn't actually scout the players that they sign.

Besty 4
Whatever Happened To Babayaro's LA Galaxy Transfer? The former Chelsea FC star had arrived at the club with some high expectations, with many sports analysts predicting a blissful reunion of the player with his erstwhile Chelsea boss Ruud Gullit, while even English star David Beckham hailed the move. Unfortunately, Celestine Babayaro only featured for 45 minutes for the club side in an international friendly game against FC Seoul in South Korea. During that short period he gave away a penalty and had himself yellow carded, after which he was ignored by the club side. President and general manager of the club, Alexis Lalas, said that it was in the best interests of both parties to separate. "After a period of evaluation, it was decided that it would be in the best interest of the club and the player to part ways," Lalas was quoted as saying by local media He also hinted that it might have been the decision of the technical crew to let the former Newcastle man leave. "It is unfortunate that it did not work out, but Ruud and our technical staff are hard at work putting together this team and difficult decisions have to be made,” he said. Thus just months after being released from his Newcastle United contract, Celestine is once again a free agent.
