Asprilla 96
It's the great leveller. Some Blacks, some Whites, some Geordies, some Cockneys, some Muslims, some Middle Class people. It's a chip thing. Do you have one? Edited September 21, 2005 by Asprilla's foreskin

Asprilla 96
Maybe I do have a chip on my shoulder. I'll admit that it annoys me when people make assumptions based on my accent. It annoys me when people think that white people never struggle. Or that being middle class means you don't work hard. There, I've done it. Anyone else want to try? Edited September 21, 2005 by Asprilla's foreskin

Perhaps that's why you've gotten the responses you have. I can't speak for anyone else but it's the reason I didn't take this thread seriously. sweetleftpeg 0
Alright, yes, I would say you will get people who judge people and treat them differently for pretty stupid reasons, accent being one of them. My Mrs is part Southern (not the good part ) and her relatives can be right snotty bastids about where we live and the fact I'm not some high flying city banker. Mind, it's only the older generation that think this, the relatives our age couldn't give a shit. Bascially, it used to piss me off but now I just treat it with the indifference it deserves really. You carry a chip on your shoulder over issues you'll drive yourself mad, which is why I just take the piss instead.

Do you find yourself acting differently around more working class people to try and fit in? Do you ever feel too working class if you're in a meeting or something? Kid Dynamite 7169
nope, the only chip i have is that some of my mates accuse me of being 'posh'. then i have to remind them that i grew up in far worse conditions than them and that just cos my mam and dad have money now doesnt mean that i have. i constantly skint, not rich by association!
