Happy Face 29
Shola would score a boat load more than Smith, and the only door smith has unlocked this season is when he fell over the ball in hesitation and Viduka took it off him. Shola wouldn't score a boat load more than anyone. Pretty similar rate to Bellamy. Twice as good as Smiths. I understand what you mean though, none of those players will score a "boatload" themselves let alone a boatload more than anyone else. But I'd rather a striker that scores one in three, rather than one in six.

Shola's more of an out-and-out striker. Not saying either are good enough but I honestly think Smith would be more beneficial to the team.
Park Life 71
Neither will survive at the club past the summer imo.
Big TRon 0
Neither are good enough, but I think there's more chance of Shola creating or scoring goals than Smith.

I agree with Bellamy, I'd rather have him than Shola, he scores as many and creates loads of space for his partner. I don't think Smith does either though. I wouldn't select either for my front two like, even from the players we've got.
Guest alex
For me Smith gives you: Workrate (his workrate is far more useful and effective upfront than in midfield), good touches, flick-ons and physicality with his back to goal. Shola scores more. Out of the players we have, I'd probably like to see Smith played a bit with Owen or Martins. Same goes for Viduka, who again gives something different. Edit: Viduka with Owen or Martins that is. Edited January 21, 2008 by alex
sammynb 3640
They're both shite, I'd play a 4-3-3 with Zog and Duff (or anyone good enough to replace Duff) before I'd have either in the starting 11. After all the slagging off you gave XXXL Sam - you then want to play his system! You've moved in next door to acrossthepond haven't you?
MattM4 0
Did anyone else see Shola run into Duff during the first half against bolton? Passed him the ball then just ran into him and then Bolton got a throw in. Well, obviously I noticed that He had the ball in a good position and was a good five yards from Duff who was along the line. Hesitated to pass it to him and moved forwards with the ball... hesitated again... and again until him and Duff were actually in the same square centimetre and that's when he decided to pass it so they just bounced off each other and the ball went out. Ken 119
Shola is shite. What frustrates me is that he'll be given another chance to prove to us all that he is a fucking donkey. I wanted to see the back of this waster the second it became the 1st of January. Will now have to wait until the summer. Smith isn't great, but is better than Shola. He's a good striker to play a 4-5-1 away from home. He tackles the shit out of defenders and that's about all he does really. At least he doesn't run into his own team mates. Not the first time I've seen Shola barge into one of his own before .
