Asprilla 96
I was just reading the story about DIC and Liverpool and the Gillette nonsense and I realised we're actually very fortunate to be OWNED by one person. He didn't borrow the money, there's no shareholders to please and it seems that the culture of the club and the city have got right into his system and he is now a fan. Watching Chris Mort yesterday was a breath of fresh air. Everything he's done so far has been class and the way they turned round the Redknapp debacle has pleased me (and I'm sure everyone else) no end. The previous chairman had ballsed up so many times that I thought it was the same old same old last week, but no, Mort and Ashley are a world away from that. We are in for a great period in the club's history I'm absolutely convinced of it. Keegan's appointment is so simple it's genius and I'm just so pleased for once that I can believe in my club once again. ....I know, it sounds like I've had a few but I'm sober as a judge. peasepud 59
totally agree, people have obviously been wary of any new owner/ chairman but so far Id say they're looking damn good. Favourite quote has to be "you have unlimited funds because I want to have some fun" Foook me I wish I could have fun like that!
Ketsbaia 0
Here, here. Ashley may have a slightly unorthodox way of going about his business, but he's impressed me so far. I seriously believe he's loving life at the club and this is more than just another investment for him. In Mort we've got a media savvy, intelligent chairman who is so different to Fat Fred it's unbelievable. It may not come together straight away, but it's an exciting time to be a Newcastle fan, that's for sure
JawD 99
Yet I've been surprised how many people on are have been quick to get on their backs, esp around the sacking of Sam and attempt at getting Harry.

It did all appear to be be badly managed, not necessarily the way we went after Harry because I suspect the leaks were coming from his end rather than ours but the fact that we were targeting that calibre of manager. But we've ended up with Keegan so everything is alright and Ashley is the man again.
Kid Dynamite 7318
According to Keegan hed been spoken to before Harry had even said he didnt want it. I dont think theres ever been a mention of Harry actually being offered a firm contract. He was simply one of the people we talked to and Ashley decided he didnt want him commuting from Pompey every day. The rest is just media hype. Apparently they had interviews with a few other people too that didnt get leaked
snakehips 0
The pros and cons of Mike Ashley: Pros: He bought the club which rid us of Shephad and Haall. He has taken £100m out of the biscuit tin to pay off the debt, meaning everything NUFC generates can be used to help the club/team instead of paying off debt interest. He seems genuinely in it for the right reasons and not as a means of making more money. He has a gut that is bigger than mine, meaning when I stand next to him in the bog I feel slim Cons: He has a shirt with 'Smith' written on it - this is just wrong, wrong, wrong.
