I assumed those who died would have been either overweight or very unfit. Scary.
Craig 6682
I commented yesterday that the bloke in his 40s from York worked for us. Word has gone round that he regularly did road-races and was considered very athletic... Very sad.
Guest alex
Reminds me of a friend of my dad who died a few years ago. He was very active and played several sports to a pretty decent standard. He dropped dead due to heart disease one day.
peasepud 59
Is it true that one of them was running the race to raise money for his son that has a terminal disease? If so, thats got to be one of the saddest stories going. Some poor wife now has no husband and the death of her son looming.

sweetleftpeg 0
My mate has actually run the GNR for the sudden death syndrome charity. Fit and active young lads and lasses dropping dead due to undetected heart defects. His brother in law died from it a couple of years back, only mid-20's with a young bairn. There was a story on the news about a 16 year old kid at the weekend who dropped dead straight after scoring a goal. Seems to be happening a fair bit, nowt to do with being unfit. R.I.P to all those who lost their lives in the GNR... especially as they we're doing it for a good cause which makes it more heartbreaking.... my condolances to all the families involved

Kid Dynamite 7030
well i knew him to say hello. when we first moved in a few years back his family used to come over with the rest of the street for bbq's and new years etc. so still a bit of a shock to see his face on the front of the journal this morning
