uguysarefunny 0
Ok I'm just going to say it, Ronaldo is a class player... ok now we have that out of the way, here is my point. What would happen if you dropped Ronaldo into the current Newcastle first eleven? I would contend , not a lot, mainly because you have to judge players in the context in which they operate. If a forward never gets passed the ball and your playing one up front then it's impossible to get into the game ... (no matter who you are) well I'd also contend that applies to all the players on the pitch to a greater or lesser extent . so .... if you've got a about five guys in the team who shouldn't be playing in the premiership (for one reason or another) it's very hard on the other six football players as they have to fill the gaps for the five wasters. So all I'm saying is , once the deadwood is gone (smith etc etc ) then I think the likes of Jose Enrique etc will get a chance to really shine. does that make sense ? JawD 99
To some degree yes. I agree is class. A twat, but a class one. If he was in our team, would make little difference at the moment. But yes, playing with better tactics along side better players will bring better things from our better players. Pretty obvious actually
Asprilla 96
I remember when we got Viana and they got Ronaldo. Something just clicked right away with Ronaldo (although he had a little dip in form after a great start) and Viana never got going. I think Ronaldo is one of (if not THE) best players in the world right now. Arrogant, confident, skillful. I agree with uguys, a few key players would lift the whole team. We're not as bad as the result today suggests, but we need some key additions fast. Even Sven lost 6-0 this season...and he's MAGIC!!!
Scottish Mag 3
Robert and Bellamy were two additions that turned a very average side into a Champions League team. Its just a shame the money Sam did have to spend he wasted 12 million on Barton and Smith rather than two players who could have made a big big difference. A decent manager to give the place a lift will make the biggest difference.
Shearergol 0
The reason that we lost 6-0 today was not Ronaldo, it was our lack of central midfield. If we buy one creative player and one defensive minded player, it would make a world of difference. Ditch Smith, Geremi, Emre, Butt and Barton, because none of them actually do anything. More to the fact Man Utd were fucking superb today and we were gutless and pathetic. Man United were billiant, but we had nothing to stem the flow coming at us. First half we gave them so many chances, but Given and the defenders threw themselves in frot of everything. You cannot do that for 90 minutes, and it's the reason central midfielders are supposed to help out. On the way back from Manchester tonight I've done a massive U-turn on the arguments I used to have with Leazesmag about whether we needed defenders or forwards. I've seen the light tonight. Enrique, Taylor, Faye and Beye would be a good enough defence for any team outside the top 4, and with Given behind them (who the Man United fans applauded throughout, despite the fact they hate him) it should be solid. In front of that though we've got absolute rubbish. The new manager HAS to invest in a brand new midfield and forward line. Stop bringing in the defenders (too late eh Sam) and get players in who can actually give the defence a breather. It was hard to watch that today, but it's shown me so much about what is wrong with the team at the moment. Oh, and for some reason we try to mark zonal, but I don't think the players understand it. When Rio scored I pointed out that Tevez was completely unmarked at the back post. When it went over him it went to another unmarked player (Ferdinand). Who was picking him up? Ronaldo's hat-trick goal, he was completely unmarked whilst stood on the edge of the area, and moved into the area without a marker. Do they understand who they should mark, or is it just whoever is closest to the ball? It won't take a great deal to turn it around (despite the fact I've just mentioned replacing 6 players ) but the important thing RIGHT NOW is to get Butt and Smith replaced. QFT And I'd go as far to say Milner and Duff also need to seriously reconsidered if we want to move forward as a squad. The amount of times they both gave up possession passing to their imaginary team-mate just gifting the ball back to Man U makes the work twice as hard for the rest of the team. Especially when it is just around the halfway and the team is moving forward to support them. And to all the Owen supporters out there please explain why he doesn't have to chase balls down, challenge defenders and defend from the front - is he exempt from the grit and grime of the game? Tooj 17
Cristiano do you mean? This is the only Ronaldo man. Despite the class of Cristiano, he or anyone else currently playing will never be on the same playing field as this chap in his pomp.

We hate football 0
Ronaldo is a canny player like. But then again so is Vidic. Ferdinand, Giggs, Tevez, Carrick and Evra. Oh and that Rooney can play a bit as well.

Aye Robson reckons Mourinho said to him that Geremi's legs had gone before we bought him, guess there's something in that. Emre is not the creative midfield player we needed and never was. Barton may well end up behind bars, so he may effectively be gone. Although Smith if played correctly could still be ok, and Butt is likely as good as we'll get in his sort of role.
