NUFC Official Statement

Official Newcastle United statement from Chairman Chris Mort:

"In the process of appointing a new manager at Newcastle United, we have identified and spoken to a number of potential candidates.

"This is a very important appointment - our first since taking control of the Club - and we will take as long as required to make sure we bring the right person.

"That person will be someone we believe will be able to deliver successful results and performances to accompany that.

"We can confirm that Harry Redknapp is one of the people the Club has spoken to. However, Harry made it clear he is happy with life on the South Coast and we wish him well for the future.

"We will continue to devote our time to the very important task of selecting the right person to manage Newcastle United and we will make a further announcement when appropriate."

Inexperience shining through, they get rid of BSA and had yet to even speak to HR, they get the knock back and now the transfer window is slipping away and they go on about time?,sounds like they really thought about this one like

Honeymoon period is over for the board now, i can hear them singing "are you Shepherd in disguise" now

When did they have a honeymoon period?

When everyone was full of hope about the coming season :panic:

We were outstanding in the pre season friendlies apart from Carlisle and Hull.

Well im not a Redknapp fan but id rather we got someone decent.

Lets see how Pearson can look after us, hopefully long enough to keep us floating but not well enough to pull a Roeder so we can make the right choice!

could be that this is all a smokescreen so Jose can come in under the radar, with bobby Robson in some kind of Overlord role, Shearer as Jose's number two and Keegan as the morale officer....

... I think I'm still a little drunk..

Obviously not having one clear person in mind, why oh why didnt they leave Big Sam in untill the end of the season, wankers!

Ive got no problem with the timing of the sacking, as I said pre sacking either suppot him and bring in new players to improve the squad or sack him.

They had no confidence in the players he wanted or his ability to improve the team so they got rid.

Its not as if Sam was likely to get many points from or upcoming raft of fixtures anyway. This season is already a write off, esp with the facup draw, and we will have to really go some to get relegated so I think the sacking is fine.

I dont even think there is any reason to rush in appointing the next bloke. I have no real reason so far to feel concerned
