Big TRon 0
That means it's going to be Hughes now. Shit Ruled himself out already hasn't he? Poor management. Should have kept his fans and players on tenderhooks. watch him backtrack though...he'd come here like a shot.
Isegrim 10017
Van Gaal seems to have done all right * 1 x Champions League: 1994-95 (with Ajax) * 1 x Intercontinental Cup: 1994-95 (with Ajax) * 1 x UEFA Cup: 1991-92 (with Ajax) * 2 x European Supercup: 1995-96 (with Ajax), 1997-98 (with FC Barcelona) * 3 x Dutch Eredivisie: 1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96, (with Ajax) plus in 2003-04 (as Technical Director) * 1 x Dutch Cup: 1992-93 (with Ajax) * 3 x Johan Cruijff-schaal: 1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96 (with Ajax) * 2 x Spanish League: 1997-98, 1998-99 (with FC Barcelona) * 1 x Spanish Cup: 1997-98 (with FC Barcelona) * 1 x Rinus Michels Award (2007) Until 1999 Did very well with Alkmaar recently though, just missing out the title at the last day by dropping from 1st to 3rd place, didn't they? Asprilla 96
Shows a worrying lack of judgement on the new owners part. Redknapp clearly didn't have the ambition we are all looking for. This is pathetic. Can't really argue with that. Ashley has engineered a situation where he's been made to look a fool. It shouldn't have happened. I think he's Ashley's administrator rather than the guy who makes the big decisions. Redknapp was Ashley's choice due to his big friendship with Kelmsy (sic). Fop 1
If Rednapp has turned us down, who the hell WILL want to come to Newcastle. McClown here we come (said not to joke about him till Rednapp's contract ink was dry )

Shearergol 0
So ambitious that he wants an English manager? On a side note, Leazes is loving this.

But it probably wouldn't impress a candidate that the owner has no interest in running the club or personally doing his utmost to bring in a new man. Should have kept his fans and players on tenderhooks. watch him backtrack though...he'd come here like a shot. Didn't really rule himself out did he? Said he or his chairman hadn't been approached and didn't expect to be (probably because he knew we were persuing Redknapp and expected him to take the job). I fully expect it to be Hughes now and if not him, it'll be Shearer. I don't think we're stupid enough to lower ourself to Steve McLaren and didn't Ashley say he thought of him in the same vein as his ex-wife? As for Van Gaal, Mourinho, Houillier, etc.. I think we can forget that line of enquiry. What Shearergol said is spot on - i doubt they'd take kindly to being 'second choice' which we all now know they would be. Nate 0
This is all hauntingly reminiscent of Shepherd's decison to sack Bobby. Can anyone else see McClaren end up being Mort's Souness?
ewerk 31600
What a complete and utter fucking cock up. I justified the timing of Allardyce's sacking by believing that Ashley and Mort are clever enough to have something up their sleeve and now it turns out that a.) They have absolutely no idea how to select a top class manager and b.) They have absolutely no idea how to recruit the man they want. Once again we're a fucking laughing stock, well fucking done.
